Laser coupling system
Dell, Roman ; Wilfert, Otakar (referee) ; Barcík, Peter (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the usage of a tunable pulsed laser for coupling to a single-mode fiber. At first, the thesis explains the principle of laser functioning, its basic technical components, properties of laser radiation and main types of tunable pulsed lasers. Next, it describes main types of optical fibres, their key properties and the methods for laser to fibre coupling. Finally, the thesis explains the basic concepts of matrix optics, its application to the Gaussian beam transformation and the calculation of coupling efficiency.
Transmission parameters of optical access networks
Ježek, Jaroslav ; Kapoun, Vladimír (referee) ; Havelka, Dušan (advisor)
The essence of this thesis is the cognition of theoretical basis for measuring on optical fibres, elements and optical wireway as well. This work describes the methods of measuring and detection of parameters of these networks. The gained knowledge is followed by its application on two laboratory tasks. The first task is focused on usage of method of embedded loss for measuring of attenuation of fibre and followed by usage of the method OTDR for localization of defect. The second task is focused on measuring of attenuation on passive optical element using only the method of embedded losses. The laboratory tasks were described and respective conclusion and findings were drawed from each other.

The fibre optics coupling to photodiodes used in plasma jets optical radiation recording enables us to increase the channel count and to add flexibility to an experimental layout for multi-directional observations. These improvements give us opportunity of more detailed and important plasma jets behaviour analysis - reconstruction of luminosity fields (close to relative value of enthalpy) in planes perpendicular to a plasma jet axis, velocities and tracking of plasma jet axis movements. Details of experimental hardware and layount will be also shortly presented.
