Analysis of impact of noise in recordings on the automated detection of hypokinetic dysarthria

This thesis deals with the automated detection of hypokinetic dysarthria by analysing the influence of noise present in recordings. Appropriate single-channel methods, specifically the spectral subtraction and Kalman filter, are selected and implemented in the MATLAB R2022a to enhance speech. These methods are also used for noise-free recordings, to which additive white noise was added. Afterwards, the effectiveness of these methods is objectively evaluated by using signal-to-noise ratio values. After enhancing of speech, interferences are extracted from the recordings. The effect of the presence of noise, as well as its subsequent suppression by individual methods, is then evaluated by statistical analysis, specifically using the Kruskal-Wallis test and the post hoc Dunn’s test. The probability of distributing parameters of clean, noisy and enhanced recordings, for which the effect of noise is significant, according to statistical tests, are plotted using violin and box graphs. Finally, the classification was done by logistic regression with the help of machine learning, where the effect of the presence of noise and subsequent speech enhancement on automated detection of hypokinetic dysarthria was described according to the area values under the ROC curve.
Precise Frequency Generator - DDS

This work deals with frequency generators based on the direct digital synthesis method DDS. Basic principles and attributes of the frequency generator DDS are explained. The text describes parameters influencing and defining a quality of the generated signal. The list of available integrated circuits realizing the direct digital synthesis is mentioned. A construction of the DDS generator with a device AD9954 and the generator control are described. At the end of the work, the function and parameters of the designed generator are verified.
BER Meter for Video Signals

The diplomma thesis is dealing with possibilities of Signal to noise ratio measurement by method, which is based on direct measurement. It is chosen the most suitable method – signal and noise separation to two different parallel signal branches, where is measured signal strength in one branch and root mean square value in the other. The thesis is consisted of a concept of detail block scheme of Signal to noise ratio meter, which was designed in terms of theoretical knowledge. Particular functional blocks were circuit-designed, the active and passive parts were chosen and their function were described. There were made simulation and displayed input and output time flows. There is designed the whole connection of engineered Signal to noise ratio meter in the last part of my thesis. The double-sided board of printed circuit is contained too. It was created simple programme for supervisor micro-processor. Thereby were constructed complete bases for realization.
Subjective assessment of disturbing noise from gramophone records

The bachelor thesis is focused on distortion that occurs by playing gramophone records. Due to functional principle of turntable and due to origin of individual distortion, which may occur while playing records, were selected two most significant and most frequently occurring distortion. For these distortion is studied their effect on subjective assessment of audio record. From data obtained from participants in the listening test was performed statistical analysis, also test of reliability and detection of any possible errors occurring in the assessments of individual listeners. The conclusions from results confirmed differences between two distortions and also between different audio samples on the subjective perception of the quality of audio experience for listener.
GSM-EDGE and UMTS Systems Coexistence

The dissertation thesis deals with the investigation of the coexistence of GSM–EDGE and UMTS systems with focus on the physical layer of the systems. The aim is to provide a set of recommendations for practical cooperation while the systems operate in both the separated and the common radio bands. A detailed description of signal processing of both the systems on the physical layer is presented. On the basis of this description, models of both systems were created and implemented in the MATLAB environment. The simulations are focused on the physical layer quality parameters, especially the bit error ratio evaluation for various ratios of useful signal power to noise power during the transmission over the radio channel. Simulation is also used to examine the quality of received useful signal while it is interfered by signals from the same and adjacent channels. The purpose is to determine the isolation between these adjacent channels, when the bit error ratio of the useful signal does not exceed a certain reference value. The simulation results are subsequently subjected to comparison with the results of the experimental measurements in laboratory conditions. Before the measurements are carried out, a study of possible interference types is performed. Consequently, the crucial parameters of the measuring equipment used are verified. From the results of simulations and measurements, the proposal of a minimum and recommended carrier separation between both the systems is presented in order to efficiently utilize the assigned frequency spectrum. Furthermore, for the cooperation in both the separated and the common radio bands, the necessary precautions are given for reaching the required isolation and thereby inter-system interference minimization.
ECG quality evaluation

This seminar work deals with the topic of evaluating the quality of ECG signals. The introductory chapters explain the basic characteristics of ECG signals - measurement, the form of the measured signal, methods of analysis. The cardiac physiology and pathology is presented. The most common types of noise that occur in ECG signals are also mentioned. Further, the reader is acquainted with the importance of the issue of evaluating the quality of ECG signals. In the practical part of the work, two own methods for ECG quality evaluation are presented. First, a brief theoretical introduction to the techniques used in the creation of methoda is given, followed by a description of the principle of algorithms. In order to compare the functionality of the proposed methods, three more methods from other authors are presented. Their principle is briefly described. In the final chapter, all methods are subjected to functionality testing. The results are examined and all methods are compared with each other.
