Russian-American bilateral strategic arms control treaties after the Cold war

The thesis Russian-American bilateral strategic arms control treaties after the Cold war analyses specific aspects of arms control treaties between the Russian Federation and the United States of America after 1989, and deals with the question of future of nuclear disarmament. It focuses on three main aspects of treaties: quantitative, economic and political. The first part of the thesis analyses the background of the arms control treaties. In the beginning, it defines the framework of disarmament and introduces the basic security principle of treaties. Thesis follows with brief history of arms control initiatives and bilateral treaties signed until the end of the Cold war. In the next part, the thesis clarifies the role of the United States and the Russian Federation with regard to immediate changes in international system after this era. The last part deals with the role of the nuclear weapons in foreign-security concepts of both countries. The second part of the thesis focuses solely on the bilateral arms control treaties and the future of nuclear disarmament process. It begins with the brief information section on arms control treaties and continues with analysis of quantitative limits of each one of the treaties. British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in Its Prime

Since 1958 the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament was the best known British organisation opposing nuclear weapons. They organized the greatest protest activities mainly in two critical periods of the Cold War: 1958-1963 and 1979-1987. The intent of my thesis is to compare the work of the Campaign in these two historical eras. In connection with the functioning of the anti-nuclear protest movement the paper focuses on several issues: (1) the circumstances of the establishment and resurfacing of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, (2) its main activities, (3) the reasons why the protests faded away, (4) changes of the membership, (5) affiliated groups and international cooperation, (6) relationship between the campaigners and the Labour Party, (7) reactions of the British governments and (8) of general public. In addition to the analysis of the Campaign's work the paper tries to explain the political and historical context as well. A chapter describing the 1960s and 1970s was included for better continuity of the text. At that time the British population wasn't that interested in the nuclear armament and the activities of the Campaign were considerably limited. The U.S. Nuclear Disarmament at the Beginning of the 21st Centrury

The bachelor thesis deals with the U.S. nuclear disarmament at the beginning of the 21st century. Its main objective is to assess, whether the disarmament process made any progress under Bush and Obama administrations. In order to meet this goal, the thesis analyzed American defense and nuclear reviews, from which it is possible to find out an approach of both presidents to the given issue. In addition, the thesis also looked into nuclear arms reduction treaties between the USA and the Russian Federation.
Nuclear weapons – inevitable element of world politics?

Nuclear weapons are from their first use near the end of World War II the topic of the unfailing debates in the world politics. Considering they are easily abusable they represent an important menace to the international security. The only possible solution is their complete elimination. However, nowadays we may think the nuclear disarmament could be finished a lot of barriers still exist and make it inlikely to be implemented. Perhaps the use of different new instruments in the international relations might once help to make the universal disarmament real.
