Trends in marital and nonmarital fertility in the Czech Republic

Trends in marital and nonmarital fertility in the Czech Republic The aim of this paper is to analyze changes in marital and nonmarital fertility in the Czech Republic in the period 1980-2008, in terms of age, birth order and marital status. The impact of changes in the structure of women according to marital status and of fertility change in the intensity of the number and structure of live births was investigated. Outline the historical development of the social situation of children born outside marriage, and attempts to find answers to questions regarding the expanding phenomenon of unmarried motherhood and cohabitation. Throughout the analyzed period, a growing number and proportion of births outside marriage. At the end of the first decade of the 21st century in illegitimate union was born almost 39 % of live births. Attitude of unmarried cohabitation and unmarried children nascent mothers are no longer nearly as pessimistic as it was before. With the sharp decline of marriages concluded growing share of single women of reproductive age. Significant changes occurred only in the total number of live births, which fluctuated, and at the end of the period analyzed is stabilized above the one hundred thousand live births, but also a change in reproductive behavior, which is reflected in a marked increase...

Nonmarital and marital fertility in the Czech Republic and from international perspective. Trends, patterns and attitudes. Abstract The aim of this master thesis is to describe the development trends of marital and nonmarital fertility in the Czech Republic and to analyze selected indicators of fertility. As tools are used to certain methods of demographic analysis. The first part addressis the basic concepts related to the issue of marital and nonmarital fertility, data sources and a description of the historical development of nonmartial fertility. The analytical part include basic analysis of fertility by age, marital status, education, birth order and the decomposition of the total fertility rate and proportion of childern born outsider marriage in the Czech Republic and Austria too. Kdo se vyhýbá manželství?

The paper analyzes increase in non-marital fertility in the Czech Republic in 1990-2005. It emphasize that non-marital fertility is typical for women with low education and for women living in regions with little economic prospects. Using data from SECM, it is argued that this increase in extra-marital childbearing cannot be fully explained by procreation within cohabiting unions. Instead, this paper points out that decline in marital births can be to a large degree attributed to men’s withdrawal from families, which is significant especially among lower classes.
