Strategic Giving in the Context of Transformation of the Česká Spořitelna Foundation: A Description of Two Different Giving Strategies

Strategické darcovstvo v kontexte premeny Nadácie Českej sporiteľne: Popis dvoch rozličných darcovských stratégií Abstract This thesis deals with the issue of corporate philanthropy and its challenges in a case study of the transformation of the donor strategy of the Česká sporiteľna Foundation after its merging with the Depositum Bonum Foundation. The outcome of this study is a description of the merger of these foundations, and the aspects of the strategy in which the change took place. It is an assessment of the foundation's giving style, its relationship with the state, and the level at which it seeks to achieve social change. A further objective is to identify whether the new strategy shows signs of effective philanthropy or other approaches that might aid it in dealing with the challenges, that foundations of this type face, particularly the issues of legitimacy, effectiveness and accountability to stakeholders. The Role of Non-profit Organizations in Educational Support of Socially Disadvantaged Roma Students

The topic of this thesis is the role of non-profit organizations in supporting the education of socially disadvantaged Roma students. The thesis provides the analysis of the involvement of non-profit organizations in the process education support. The theoretical part of the thesis defines essential concepts in the area of education of socially disadvantaged students including support strategies with the emphasis on Roma students. The thesis provides an overview of the impact of social disadvantage on the education process, the affirmative processes utilized in school environment and the available support from the non-profit organizations. The research part of the thesis analyzes the data obtained through interviews with the employees of four selected non-profit organizations providing the support in the education of socially disadvantaged Roma students. The interviews are focused on identification of main forms of education support provided by non-profit organizations, their benefits in the education process of a socially disadvantaged student and the limits and opportunities presented in this process by the cooperation of non-profit organizations and schools. Possible financial resources of nonprofit organisation ESN

This thesis focuses on possible financial resources of the ESN nonprofit organisation. First chapters define the following terms: nonprofit organization and civic society; afterwards the ESN organization on international, national and local levels is introduced. The second part of the thesis offers a review of the possible resources like the EU program Youth in Action, structural funds, grant from the Czech ministry and Sophia Foundation. In the practical part, the research done in the ESN CR network can be found. The thesis also comprises the recommendations for the ESN CR members.
