Game Environment from Music
Vaněk, Jiří ; Fapšo, Michal (referee) ; Hradiš, Michal (advisor)
The topic of this work is game environment generation from music. The main subject of this work is the music analysis. I am dealing with the problem of finding relevant information in music, which would be useful for game generating. The design of the system for music analysis, presented in this work, is based on the theory of signal processing and statistical classification. The proposed analysis of music is focused mainly on a beat detection, musical genre recognition and song segmentation. The second part of the work deals with the design of a game, which generates its environment from the data obtained in the music analysis. I have implemented the complete system for the music analysis and a prototype of the game, in which it is possible to evaluate the results from the analysis. The implementation and the achieved results are described in the conclusion of this work.
Automatic Generation of Steps for DDR
Skála, František ; Glembek, Ondřej (referee) ; Černocký, Jan (advisor)
The goal of this work is to draft methods suitable for automatic creation of step-files from music files for a DDR computer dance game. This problem is divided into two main parts - beat detection, thus determining the song tempo, and determination of steps itselves. Beat detection is based on detection of energy growths in particual frequency subbands and following statistical alignment of results. Step creation works similarly, but it focuses on detection of all intense moments of music and contains a logic for placing steps into different directions. Testing by users showed that application has the potential to address players seeking set of simple steps for their favourite songs. The quality of beat detection gives field for application of these methods even beyond scope of example application. This document also suggest a few possible improvements of used methods.
3D Game in Unity with Music Analysis
Petrjanoš, Jakub ; Chlubna, Tomáš (referee) ; Milet, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis is about music analysis and it's usage in game development in game engine Unity. With help of music analysis there is implemented path finding in procedural generated terrain. In development were used experimental methods and result is game, which generates path based on chosen song through procedural generated terrain and visualizes music.
3D Game Using OpenGL and Music Analysis
Baranovičová, Hana ; Polok, Lukáš (referee) ; Milet, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis focuses on analysis of music signal and using it in the game. The aim is to demonstrate the possibilities for analysis of music, which are practically applicable in creating games based on the that analysis, procedural ways of generating graphical visualisation of music and use of knowledge to create this type of games.
Melody Harmonization
Svoboda, Jan ; Motlíček, Petr (referee) ; Fapšo, Michal (advisor)
The Master's Thesis discusses the possibilities of automatic melody harmonization. System use dictionary method for harmonization, this was inspired with comprimation algorithm LZW. System's output file is in MusicXML format.
Artificial Composition of Multi-Instrumental Polyphonic Music
Samuel, David ; Pilát, Martin (advisor) ; Neruda, Roman (referee)
David Samuel We propose a generative model for artificial composition of both classical and popular music with the goal of producing music as well as humans do. The problem is that music is based on a highly sophisticated hierarchical structure and it is hard to measure its quality automatically. Contrary to other's work, we try to generate a symbolic representation of music with multiple different instruments playing simultaneously to cover a broader musical space. We train three modules based on LSTM networks to generate the music; a lot of effort is put into reducing high complexity of multi-instrumental music representation by a thorough musical analysis. Our work serves mainly as a proof-of-concept for music composition. We believe that the proposed preprocessing techniques and symbolic representation constitute a useful resource for future research in this field. 1
F. V. Habermann: Philomela pia, sive missae sex
Ostřanská, Kateřina ; Niubo, Marc (advisor) ; Veverka, Karel (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the mass cycle Philomela pia by František Václav Habermann (1706-1783), a composer being nowadays mentioned primarily in connection with G. F. Handel, who used some of Habermann's music fragments in his own works. The paper summarizes the present knowledge of Habermann's biography and works, listing all the source materials of this mass cycle as well, but the central focus is on two analytical chapters. The first of them attempts to cover the basic parameters of Habermann's masses and puts them to the Central European as well as Italian musical context, the second one contains a detailed study of the technique and the extent of Handel's reworkings of Habermann's music, together with a comparison of the compositional techniques of both composers. An edition of five masses from the cycle is included. Key Words F. V. Habermann, Philomela pia, mass compositions, concertato mass, 18th century, G. F. Handel, Jephtha, borrowings, music analysis
The Application Of Tempo Calculation For Musicological Purposes
Istvanek, Matej
Beat tracking systems capture time positions of beats within digital recordings. Theyare used, for example, in streaming portals, but applications in the musicological analysis are oftenneglected. In this article, two different methods of beat tracking systems are tested—conventionaland the state-of-the-art—on the specific motif of a string quartet music, which is one of the mostcomplex tasks for beat detectors in general. The aim here is to determine which system is better formusicology purposes. This often involves determining not only the position of individual beats andestimating the tempo but also the accuracy of determining their number. Evaluation analysis maybe suitable for comparing the accuracy of detectors, but may not necessarily reflect the requirementsof musicological analysis. The results of selected detectors show that a system based on a recurrentneural network seems to be the most suitable.
Music Visualization in 3D
Vincena, Petr ; Rittig, Tobias (advisor) ; Hajič, Jan (referee)
Music is an important part of our lives and music emotion recognition is an important field of study with many applications. In this work, we focus on music features extraction and subsequent creation of music emotion recognition system. We extend the work of Hun at al. [2009] in order to create a feed-forward neural network model that predicts emotions from music which we can use in visualization. We confirm the results and discuss their impact. We also provide a C# project to extract several features from music that can be used in Unity together with the demonstration scene that visualize these features. 1
Enhancement Of Global Tempo Computation In Beat Tracking System Based On Teager-Kaiser Energy Operator
Ištvánek, Matěj
Beat detection systems and onset detections are used in music information retrieval (MIR) research field for the calculation of the global tempo (GT) and beat positions in audio recordings. The aim of this article is to introduce the enhancement of the onset detector and therefore the beat tracking system. The enhancement is based on the Teager-Kaiser energy operator (TKEO), which is used in pre-processing stage before the onset computation. The proposed method is firstly evaluated in terms of ability to estimate GT of a given audio track and then it is tested on the string quartet database. Results suggest that the TKEO could improve accuracy of GT estimation. Proposed beat tracking system could be used for analysis of interpretation changes in string quartet music.
