Architect Jan Vejrych and his works

The thesis deals with the life and work of an eminent architect of the late 19th and early 20th century, a native of Horní Branná near Jilemnice, Jan Vejrych. Forty years of his extensive and diverse project and construction activity has left its mark both in Prague and in many places in Bohemia and, by implementation of a project of the National House in Maribor, Slovenia, it has also acquired an international dimension. The aim of the text is to offer a comprehensive view of Vejrych's life and professional activities and thus fill one of the gaps in the knowledge of architecture of the late 19th and early 20th century in the Czech lands. The thesis primarily focuses on the analysis of Vejrych's architectural work. When mapping his projects the aim was to place them consistently in the broader art-historical and socio- political context. The works are not only analyzed within each creative period, the evolution of selected building types is traced over time as well. Attention is paid to interior designs, which were an integral part of major projects, as well as to sketches and studies created for architect's own use where his general observations and comments on various aspects of architectural work can be found. Prague Orthodox Churches

Pražské pravoslavné chrámy Prague Orthodox Churches Petra Svobodová This thesis provides overview of orthodox churches - sanctuaries and chaples in Prague being used by Orthodox Church since 1870s. Describing the history of objects and their acquisition for the Orthodox Church, their architecture, facilities, decoration and other aspects. St Nicolas in the Old Town has been the first sanctuary acquired for church, magnificient piece of baroque architecture being used since 1870. After 1945 usage of the sanctuary was forbidden. After unsuccessfull attempts of another sanctuary acquisition, the church of St Charles the Borromeo in Resslova street was gained in 1933. Today is it Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cathedral. Paratroopers, who committed assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, Nazi Deputy Reich-Protector, were hiding in this church after the incident. Their disclosure had consequences for the sanctuary and also for the entire Czech Orthodox church. The National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror is built here today. The Sanctuary of the Dormition of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary) on Olšany cemetery has been built as a cemetery chapel already in 1925. It has been used for regular worship as late as 1945. Beneš belongs to important artist of the 1.th generation in the 20.th century. In his initial period, he was concentrated, together with his artist partners, on solution of actual art questions. In the period of group Osma he cooperates especially with Bohumil Kubišta. His significant cuboexpresionistic paintings rise from 1910. Beneš stands in the czech cubist movement by Emil Filla. Beneš's cubist paintings have success in prewar Germany. After World War I. Beneš turns away from cubism and works with Antonín Slavíček's painting reference. The castle in Blatná

The subject of the bachelor thesis "Blatná Castle" is writing a monograph of the object. First two sections are devoted to Romanesque and Gothic period and there is analysis of seperate buildings, fresco decorations and nobility houses. Factually I dedicate here to Bavor from Strakonic and to lords from Rožmitál, thanks to them the whole Blatná manor arise. Last section deals with later adjustments, including description of their owners.
