Assesment of energy consumption in industrial company
Miča, Martin ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The target of the diploma thesis is balance of energy usage within the property of company Uniman Englis. There is at the beginning description of heat pump for different principles of use. Then there is described geothermal energy and the possibility of gaining energy from mine water found on the company property. This thesis describes the various design options for the use of mine water and revitalization of industrial buildings. These proposals are then designed and assessed in terms of thermal energy by using the heat pump. Afterward there is provided the energy audit for chosen solutions.
Determination of radionuclides in water and sediments
Bílek, Jiří ; Holubová, Zuzana (referee) ; Komendová, Renata (advisor)
This thesis has been prepared for DIAMO, Branch GEAM Dolní Rožínka. Literature research includes a description of the ionizing radiation, natural radionuclides, mining of uranium ore and mineral deposits; Běstvina and Licoměřice. The experimental part includes sampling, analysis and evaluation of the content of selected radionuclides in the two selected locations. The content of uranium and radium in sludge from mine water treatment plant is determined annually by an external laboratory, using of semiconductor gamma-spectrometric analysis (GSA). Determination of both radionuclides in waters in these areas is carried out in the Centre of testing laboratories (SZLAB) in Dolní Rožínka. Uranium and radium activity is below the detection limit. Sludges from Běstvina, according to the results of external laboratories, routinely show activity of both radionuclides. But activity in the waters from this locality is below the detection limit. The goal of this diploma thesis is to verify the radionuclide content in sludge from CDV Běstvina by another method. As a comparative method was chosen determination of uranium using the UV-VIS spectrophotometry with separation on silicagel. Location Licoměřice was chosen as a reference. Like a supplementary method for determining the concentration of uranium was chosen ICP-MS. For the determination of the radium was chosen radiochemical method scintillator ZnS (Ag).
Influence of mining on environment in respect to ecotoxicology
Kociánová, Sabina ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (advisor)
This thesis deals with an influence of mining on environment from the point of view of ecotoxicology. First focus in the thesis is on overall impact of coal mining on environment. The thesis is especially closely focusing on mine water, its formation and negative influence on aquatic ecosystem. In this connection the thesis mentions examples of ecotoxicological evaluation, so called acidic mining water. The thesis also mentions legislative scope that is related to the issues about protecting environment against impact from coal mining and subject dedicated to restoration of affected areas.
critical Evaluation of metrhods for determination of Sulphates in waters
Havelková, Ludmila ; Řezáčová, Veronika (referee) ; Sommer, Lumír (advisor)
The aim of this work was the evaluation and method optimalization for determination of sulfates in aqueous solutions with application on different kinds of waters. For determination of sulfates were used two different procedures, turbidimetric and volumetric. In turbidimetric procedure was use optimized conditions applicable determination of sulfates in range from 0 – 20 mg.l-1. For stabilization of the colloid was use glycerine, himself sulfates sedimentation is discharged in BaSO4 form. By volumetric methods are used titration on the dithizone like indicator while using Pb(NO3)2 like volumetric reagent. Other indicator bromsulfonazo III, whitch are used for determination of sulfates by the help of volumetric solutions Ba(ClO4)2 and BaCl2. All volumetric determinations proceeded in acidic medium. During research of interferences ions on the individual titraction was detected substantial effect Ca2+, Mg2+ and Fe3+, which was needing divide off on the exchanger resin. Ions aforementioned don't interfere turbidimetric determination of sulfates.
Effecto of surface winning on the freshwater quality
Hurychová, Renata ; Přikryl, Ivo (advisor) ; Benešová, Libuše (referee)
The aim of this work is to show, how much different is the flowing mine water and water, which was not affected by surface mining. The literature on this theme was collected and evaluated. The question was studied in the experimental project, which covered examination of mine landscape water in Sokolovsko. In this research, 17 samples of different flowing water were taken and following values were determined: pH, conductivity, acidity, alkality, hardness, content of nitrates and nitrites, amonnium ions, phosphates, iron, chloride, calcium and manganese ions. These data were compared between samples from sites with different degrees of mining extension. The measured values were compared with previously published values from other sites.

Water and wetland localities in the watershead of Medard quarry lake.
FAFÍLKOVÁ, Veronika
I monitored the chemical parameters of surface waters in wetlands and watercourses in the vicinity of Lake Medard (newly filled residual pit after brown coal mining). The characteristics of surface waters were described by means of their physical, chemical and biological indicators. The values obtained were compared with normal surface waters in the Czech Republic. I also assessed water quality and determined eutrophication. The chemical composition was compared in space and time. The most important finding is the high variability of waters in a relatively small area. Another is that the examined surface waters do not usually exhibit the typical characteristics of acid mine waters. The locations of interest are characterized by high levels of dissolved solids in water. High concentrations of sulphates are the most problematic of the found anions. In the case of cations, the following dissolved metals had high concentrations: Na, Ca, Mg, Zn, Mn and Fe.
