There are important concepts, tools and methods introduced in the theoretical part of my bachelor thesis on theme Trademark as an intangible asset of a company. All the gained theoretical knowledge about intangible assets, methods of valuation and mostly about brand, its elements and functions, are the basis of the practical part. The subject of practical part is application of gained theoretical knowledge about Trademark as an intangible asset of a company. The purpose of the part is to introduce the company and primarily to calculate the value of trademark and its management in DataLife, Ltd.

The theoretical part of the thesis on the topic of "Brand as an intangible asset of the company," explains and describes the main concepts, tools and methods that relate to this issue. Listed are primarily theoretical knowledge of the brand and its elements of its value, positioning and various methods used for calculation of the value of the brand. The practical part allows the use of theoretical knowledge in the field of brand valuation and subsequent application to a specific example in the context of the selected company. The aim of this section is to introduce the company EPACK Ltd. and elements of the brand, which the company uses. The last step will be presented and described the methods used valuation of intangible assets and calculated values to the methods used.

The thesis deals with methods for the valuation of the trade marks used in the Czech Republic and their subsequent application during the valuating assessment and own simplified valuation of the trade mark. The main part of the thesis is comprised of apprising procedures and considerations made by appraiser in conjunction with introducing more suitable solution of these issues. Thereby the flaws occurring in valuating assessment in praxis are pointed out in this thesis.

First part deals with an issue of valuation from a theoretical point of view. Thema in subchapter of the theoretical part is explanation of basic cocepts. These concepts are relevant for a the theoretical explanation of specific methods of valuation realestates. The last chapter is devoted to a theoretical methodology of determining rent. The second part brings theoretically described methods into practise. For the practical practical part was chosen a comparative method which represents valuation of a realstate on market principles.

The objective of Bachelor thesis is the definition of basic terms and methods used in the property valuation and the subsequent valuation of specific property. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is devoted to (description) describing the basic terms and bases needed for the valuation and characteristics of the most widely used methods of property valuation. In the practical part is going to be made the valuation of the specific property by the comparative method and the method according to price decree and at the end the results of both methods is going to be compared.

The first passage of theoretical part is focused on general issues of valuation, next parts theoretically describe the specific methods of property valuation. The practical part is focused on application of methods described in the theoretical part. With regard to scope of the bachelor's thesis are applied only the method of valuation based on price regulation, as representative of administrative valuation, and the comparative method, as representative of market valuation. Results of both method are then compared and commented.

The concrete real property, which is a family house with equipment, is valued by administrative valuation method in the practical part. The evaluation is carried out by the administrative method according to valuation regulation.

There are many moments in a company life, where we need to find out the firm's value from different reasons. It is possible to proceed by several methods. Firstly, I deal in theory with the valuation procedure of the firm and with selected methods of firm valuation. I apply the depicted theoretical apparat in the next part of this thesis. I assess the value of the firm Continental Teves Czech Republic, Ltd on the date of 16th of December 2009 according to the methods of which application, based on completed situation and financial analyses, indicated to be the best one. The chosen method has to correspond to the aim of valuation. The aim of this thesis is valuation of the equity. The revenue method of discounted cash flow to the equity was chosen for this purpose. I also valuate the firm according to the method of book value so that I can decide whether the methods are appropriate or not. The result of my work is partly the factual valuation of the firm, partly the determination of advantages and disadvantages of the both methods and the appointment, which one to use in specific situation.

The thesis presents an integrated review of current valuation methods of assets and liabilities within financial accounting. As a base for the analysis, it uses especially the Czech legal regulations and mentions international accounting standards. In the first part, it deals with the particular valuation bases. In the second part, it discusses the use of the mentioned bases for various types of assets and connected liabilities. Finally, it summarizes the key findings and conclusions while presenting the authors viewpoint of the problem.
