Impact of small water reservoirs on the occurrence of extreme runoff episodes in the upper Otava River basin
Šmrhová, Zuzana ; Kocum, Jan (advisor) ; Jeníček, Michal (referee)
The main objective of this thesis is to prove the influence of small water reservoirs on the extreme runoff situations in a watershed of upper Otava River. The system of small water reservoirs represents an effective part of flood protection, which can be realized without greater changes of landscape. The research part of this thesis includes a summary of knowledge about rainfall-runoff process, small water reservoirs and hydrological modeling. The work is applied to model watershed of Roklanský creek, which is situated in a central part of Šumava Mountains. There are a few rain gauges and laser sensors situated in this watershed, whose are needed for the modeling process. The thesis contains a selection of appropriate data and methods for a creation of digital model of terrain. This digital model of terrain is used for creation of most of the parameters, whose are used for modeling of rainfall- runoff process. This modeling is done in hydrological modeling program HEC - HMS (Hydrologic Engineering Center - Hydrologic Modeling System). HEC - HMS is one of the most used simulation programs. The main part of the thesis is a simulation of rainfall-runoff process, applied to two real rainfall-runoff episodes. Next important part of the thesis is a comparison of this simulation with and without...
Small water reservoirs in the Krkonoše Mountains: What would their regeneration bring?
Šádková, Eva ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Daňhelka, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the evaluation of influence of small water reservoirs on the extreme runoff events (floods and drought) in the upper Úpa River basin. It summarizes knowledge about both hydrological extremes and their manifestations in the basin of interest as well as about small water reservoirs in the sense of water retention measures and their possible importance during the periods of low flows or floods. In this thesis two localities of possible reservoirs at place of former splash dams in Obří důl and on the Lysečinský Brook were chosen. To assess the influence of small water reservoirs on runoff during two chosen flood events and two periods of drought, the hydrological model HEC-HMS was applied. The results of model simulation proved a positive influence of reservoirs on the reduction of flood peaks (except for a concurrence of transformed flood waves in the outlet that occurred during one flood event), but the effect was decreasing with the increasing catchment area and the intensity of precipitation and with smaller storage capacity of a reservoir. During the low flows, a positive influence of reservoirs was observed as well, relating to the release of stored water. However, the ability of a reservoir to reduce deficit volume and to balance the flow was decreasing with smaller...
Studie návrhu malé vodní nádrže
Petriľáková, Lenka
This bachelor thesis deals with the proposal of revitalization in the cadastral area of Viničné Šumice. It deals with descriptions and calculations of river basin characteristics. Another integral part was the identification of natural conditions, detailed field research, sampling of soil samples together with laboratory tests and their evaluation. After the survey, laboratory analysis and landscape assessment, the most suitable solution to the construction of a smaller number of pools was proposed.
Splash dams in the Krkonoše (Giant) Mountains - the past and the present
Šádková, Eva ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Jeleček, Leoš (referee)
The idea of renovation of former small water reservoirs (splash dams) that were used while log driving is coming to the fore in connection with an effort to gradually increase water retention capacity and to reduce runoff variability in headstream areas. On the basis of study of historical sources and literature and own field research this bachelor's thesis describes causes of origin and period of origin of the Giant Mountain's splash dams and deals with the function and the location of the splash dams in the field. The thesis also focuses on their current state. A total of 22 Giant Mountain's splash dams built mainly in the second half of the 16th century were traced. Half of them were accurately located, the rest of the splash dams were located with an accuracy of watercourses. In the thesis there are 6 diverse localities described in detail, selected from the accurately located splash dams e.g. on the base of degree of the splash dam's preservation or degree of the anthropogenic influence on the watercourse. Key words: log driving, splash dam, Giant Mountains, history, current state

The evaluation of reconstruction and maintenance of ponds in agricultural landscape as part of complex land adjustment project
CIVIŠOVÁ, Petra Miki
The diploma thesis deals with the topic of small reservoirs. In the theoretical part the history, division of the reservoirs and technical compositions are described. Furthermore the thesis deals with the legislation and the possible technical solution within the frame of landscaping. The state of purpose reservoirs is settled in the basin area of Zborovský stream. The work propose the repairs of: dam, drain or the spillway. and the maintenance of bank vegetation and state of the mud amount in the basin as well. The erosion threat and the soil washes from the surrounding agricultural grounds are also described. The Universal soil loss equation - USLE according to Wischmeier and Smith (1978) was used for the calculation.
The evaluation of reconstruction and maintenance of ponds in agricultural landscape as part of complex land adjustment project
JURAČKA, David
This thesis explores isssues with small water reservoirs and their valuation in accordance with Act No. 151/1997 Coll. valuation and appraisal Decree No. 441/2013 Coll. Furthermore, this work deals with the distribution, history, importance and problems of small water reservoirs. Required observed data for the practical part has been processed in the DeltaNEM. The study also contains the characteristics of the specified area.
Impact of abiotic factors on community assembly of freshwater insect and other invertebrates in small standing water bodies.
DOSTÁLKOVÁ, Eva
This thesis discusses the abiotic factors that influence conditions for community assembly of water invertebrates organisms in small water reservoirs. The aim of this thesis was to compare the role of and interaction among main abiotic factors for the assembly process. In addition, main biotic factors playing role in community structuring are reviewed and the possibilities of abiotic factors to affect them are discussed. The thesis further reviews abiotic properties that affect colonizator?s habitat choice and summarizes their implication for community assembly.
Assessment of the condition of small water reservoirs in terms of landscape functions.
RUČ, Karel
This thesis is focused on evaluation of landscape functions of small water reservoirs. The aim is to analyze their basic parameters. For this purpose a realized project of the whole range of water reservoirs with special focus on revitalization was chosen. The source materials and the field research contributed to the final evaluation of the analysis of the water reservoirs condition before and after their completion. The basic data and revitalizing arrangements were identified according to the chosen indicators and criteria. Prevailing functions of the water reservoirs are derived from these indicators and criteria.
