The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the foundation, nature, and the development of the 1872-1887 Paleček humoristic journal. Based on material examination and considering previous humorous literary tradition and the changes in the historical background, the thesis presents a literary-history description of the journal and examines its content as well as formal aspects, using the methods of genre, content, and style analysis. Focus is also placed on the supplements of Paleček, its contemporary response and polemics reflection, and the position of the weekly among other periodicals of similar orientation.
