Measuring the performance of academic libraries and the impact of the measuring on improving the quality of services Abstract The topic of the dissertation thesis is performance measurement in academic libraries. Measuring the performance of libraries is essential for their effective management, and it can also be used in the design and improvement of their processes and services. Statistics are the basis for measuring the performance of libraries. In the environment of university libraries, there was a need to revise the entire data collection process. The main goal of the dissertation was therefore to prepare a new annual report template for the Association of Libraries of Czech Universities, which would reflect the current needs of university libraries, and to propose a system of statistics for the collection of statistical data, which would take place in an online environment. A partial goal was to prepare a code of conduct for the system. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part, the issue of measuring library performance and its use in practice is presented, and existing quality standards and various research methods used to monitor library performance are described.
