The effect of manual lymphatic drainage on the musculus soleus muscle tension in patients with chronic venous insufficiency
Květoňová, Hana ; Jalovcová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title: The effect of manual lymphatic drainage on the musculus soleus muscle tension in patients with chronic venous insufficiency. Aims: The aim of this thesis is to summarize theoretical knowledge about chronic venous insufficiency, muscle tension and manual lymphatic drainage and then to perform a pilot study to determine whether people suffering from chronic venous insufficiency have changed muscle tone of musculus soleus and to verify whether the implementation of a single manual lymphatic drainage of the lower limbs results in a change of muscle tension of musculus soleus. Methods: There were three patients who participated in the experiment. Anthropometric examinations of circuits of both lower limbs on all patients was carried out, using measuring tape and then a muscle tone of musculus soleus was measured using a device called myotonometer. After that the single manual lymphatic drainage of one lower limb (more affected lower extremity) was performed. The second, untreated leg was considered to be the control limb. There was also performed basal treatment of the neck, before every manual lymphatic drainage of lower limb. Circumferential dimensions of both lower limbs were measured immediately after manual lymphatic drainage and then 15 minutes later again. After that the muscle tone of...
Complex view on the problematics of the secondary lymphedema following mamma surgery
Strnadová, Dana ; Vránová, Hana (advisor) ; Šafářová, Marcela (referee)
The lymphedema is a chronic progressive disease connected with a great amount of complications of various severity. The secondary lymphedema occuring after a mamma ablation is one of the most frequent complication during the treatment of malign diseases of the mamma and it influences greatly the everyday activities of the patients. My intention was to describe the theme in its complexity and to depict the lymphedema in a bio- psycho- social context. The chapters of this work deal with the anatomy, physiology and patophysiology of the lymphatic system, the stages, complications and methods of assessing the lymphedema. Further chapters are addicted to possibilities of the treatment of the lymphedema. Emphasis is put on the physiotherapeutic methods, some of which are recently widely acknowledged and some of which are considered complementary, or there is still a necessity to verify their effectivity. I also described a pharmacological and surgery treatment of the lymphedema. In the work there are also mentioned psycho- social aspects of the secondary lymphedema. Keywords lymphatic system, secondary lymphedema after breast surgery, lymphedema therapy, physiotherapy, diagnostic, psychosocial aspects
Lymphotherapy as part of physiotherapy in patients after the ablation of breast in outpatient care

Author: Eva Jarotková Institution: Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové Title of the thesis: Lymphotherapy as part of physiotherapy in patients after the ablation of breast in outpatient care Supervisor: Mgr. Bohumila Horká Number of pages: 97 Year: 2014 Key words: lymphatic system, secondary lymphedema, breast cancer, Complex Decongestive Therapy, quality of life This bachelor's thesis deals with lymphotherapy - Complex Decongestive Therapy, which makes an important part of physiotherapy in patients after the treatment of breast cancer. Information about anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the lymphatic system is covered within the theoretical part. It also brings forward the whole issue of breast cancer with its diagnosis, prevention and treatment and mainly focuses on its complication, secondary lymphedema of the upper extremity. The end of the theoretical part describes the basis of Complex Decongestive Therapy. The empirical part shows how Complex Decongestive Therapy is used in two patients after the ablation of breast, diagnosed with the secondary lymphedema of the upper extremity. The goal of this part is to prove how significantly Complex Decongestive Therapy contributes to cure lymphedema and how greatly it affects the quality of patient's...

Improvement of manual lymph draining like method physical therapy in regeneration and therapeutic profession
OPATRNÁ, Alice
This thesis deals with usage of the technique of manual lymph drainage and verification of its influence in therapeutic, regeneration and cosmetic practise. This technique is very popular among non-professional and professional public. As for the regeneration practise it is used especially for cellulite treatment, whereas in medical practise it is used for healing numerous kinds of swelings, lymphedems in particular. In the introduction to the theoretical part my thesis aims for history of this technique in the Czech republic and abroad, emphasizes the importance of professional knowledge of the lymphatic system anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, indication and contraindication and it introduces this manual heptic technique in detail. The practical part deals with verification of effectiveness of the manual lymph drainage technique in practise and it compares input and output data of the monitored set. The results of the practical examination confirm the effectiveness of this method in the therapeutic practise.
