Adequacy of a literary text for the development of reading in primary school

The diploma thesis deals with the literary texts and their adequacy. It researches what features make kids books appropriate for the development of reading in the fifth grade of primary school. The attention is focused on reader's development and demands of literary texts. The action research gives the overview of one group of readers. Their favourite titles are assesed according to their adequacy. Bonnie Campbell Hill's Developmental Continuums are the main component for defining the criteria of the literary text. The selected texts considered according to their adequacy take place in a suggestion for teachers who want to deal with the level of kids books for their pupils. How to plan and then reflect the pupils reading performance with the knowledge of developmental continuums indicates the practical class.
Creation/Work of Jaroslav Foglar as a starting point for the use of dramatic education methods at the first elementary school

1 ABSTRACT The diploma thesis deals with the possibility of using Jaroslav Foglar's work in dramatic education at elementary school.The aim of the diploma thesis is to verify the influence of methods and techniques of dramatic education through Jaroslav Foglar's texts in the form of value charts and attitudes in the life of pupils of the 5th year of primary school.How dramatic education helps with methods and techniques - first fordeepest adoption of Jaroslav Foglar's work, and second - to increase understanding and adoption of given values and attitudes.The theoretical part focuses on the personality and work of Jaroslav Foglar and his timeless message. It focuses on the concept of drama education, its aims, principles, forms, methods and techniques. At the same time, it focuses on the analysis of the work in terms of dramatic education. In the practical part of the diploma thesis, three thematic units focusing on the moral qualities of the human being, using methods and techniques of dramatic education, are elaborated on the basis of books and short stories by Jaroslav Foglar. Comics adaptations in literatury education at elementary school and high school

This thesis deals with the use of comic adaptations in literary lessons at primary and secondary schools. The aim of this work is to map available comic adaptations of literary works written by Czech authors. The comic adaptations of Franz Kafka's novella The Metamorphosis will be evaluated based on pre-selected criteria. Part of the work will also be a comparison of the original text with the selected comic adaptation and noting the changes in the fictional world created by transferring it to the comic medium. The work will help teachers to understand the theory of comics. Theoretical knowledge will be applied in the creation of two teaching blocks built for the purposes of literary education at primary and secondary schools. The concrete implementation of both teaching blocks in practice will be compared.
Teaching grammar using the novel of V. Hugo - Les Misérables

The diploma thesis is focused on the grammar teaching in the context of a literary work. The aim of the thesis is to introduce possible positives coming out of the combination of the two relatively remote parts of the foreign-language teaching that are grammar as a language component and the development of a reading skill thanks to the presence of the literary text. The theoretical part firstly deals with the phenomena of presence of a literary text in an educational process. Second part focuses on grammar and especially the way of teaching it with the help of a literary text. The last part states the reasons of the choice of a particular novel - Les Misérables. The practical part of the work deals with worksheets where we want to demonstrate how to work with the text in favour of both - grammar and reading skill - in the same time. Fairy Tales in French Language Teaching

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of fairy tales in French language teaching. The first part is dedicated to the definition of fairy tales as literary texts and to the presentation of general aspects related to the use of literary forms in foreign language teaching. The subsequent parts are focused exclusively on fairy tales. First of all, the fairytale genre is generally introduced. Afterwards, several ways of the application of fairy tales in French classes are outlined, with regard to the focus on language skills and sub-skills. The practical part includes more subsections, however, it mainly aims at the analysis of the role of fairy tales in French language teaching in the Czech Republic. Therefore, it consists of the analysis of significant French textbooks and of a questionnaire survey aimed at Czech lower secondary and high school teachers. The textbook analysis verifies the presence of fairy tales in didactic materials, whereas the aforementioned survey examines the experience and opinions of foreign language teachers on this issue. Finally, three worksheets, based on recently acquired knowledge, are created to serve as the source of inspiration and motivation for the use of fairy tales in foreign language teaching. The use of literary education in pedagogy of leisure time

The thesis deals with possibilities of using literary text under the pedagogy of leisure time when mainly working with children in the elementary school. The theoretical part deals with key concepts of the research particularly in literary education, literary text, choice of text and literary education in leisure time. This part presents also the suitable methodical procedures when working with literary text in the school environment and leisure time activities focused on achieving esthetical experiences and development of key competencies. The practical part includes characteristics of chosen standard and activating educational methods. These methods represent the practical side of specific examples of children's and youth literature. The other part of thesis is also anthology of literary works, which can be used by leisure time teachers in educational process.
Working with literary texts in German language teaching on the second level at the primary school

The diploma thesis is focused on literary texts in the teaching of German language at the 2nd grade of elementary school and corresponding years of multiannual grammar or high schools. The essence of the thesis is to define the place of literature and current working with the literary text in the present teaching of German compared to the way it was in the past. The analysis of the occurrence of literary texts in teaching and working with them is elaborated on the basis of textbooks and supplementary materials of the German language which were and are being used in our territory.
Using Puppets for Working with a Literary Text on the First Degree of the Elementary School

In its theoretical part, this thesis deals with possibilities of using puppets at the education process of drama education. It is aimed at the puppets using at literary text working. It sketches relation between a child and a puppet, his or her communication and working with it. It points out puppets using in the other education sphere. This thesis acquaints pupils with basic kinds of puppets, a way of their using at the education and it shows possibilities of puppets hand making. This work refers to child fantasy what can help bringing subject around and after that its using is easy. It demonstrates that a puppet can have its own place in drama education lessons which concentrate on literary. The practical part deals of research what is oriented on the drama education lessons which use activities with a puppet and without it. It approaches a child working during a school year and shows progress at his work and in relation to a puppet. The thesis brings the solution how to make it special for school. This work makes puppets importance at the education. Using Children's Literature in Teaching English at Elementary Schools

of the thesis The dissertation thesis deals with the problem of using children's literature in teaching foreign languages at elementary schools. It frames the topic by Czech curricular documents and constituents of the teaching-learning process, provides a historical survey and lists the genres of the children's literature. It characterizes the skill of reading in foreign language teaching and deals with the position of the literary text and lesson planning with children's literature within the foreign language teaching process. Attention is also paid to children's literature as the constituent of the pre-service teacher training. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether children's literature is used in foreign language teaching at elementary schools, whether contemporary textbooks use it, how it is perceived by in-service and pre-service teachers and last but not least what children's literature in the teaching-learning process of foreign languages has to offer. Research tools used for the purposes of the thesis were questionnaires, observations, specially prepared teaching materials based on literary texts and analysis of a textbook.
