The Rehabilitation of the historical center and adjacent surroundings of Kyjov with a focus on the public space

The theme of the thesis „Retriveal of the historici centre and surrounding of the Kyjov city“ deals with current condition of the Kyjov. It processes problematic area sof city, such as existing buildings, transportation, greenery, living spaces, new waterfront, House of culture pre-space, middle of the Masaryk Square, etc. It looking for answers to long standing questions: How to deal with the long-term dechne of the population? Where to find new spaces for living? How should Kyjov develop in future? How to make city an attractive place for new Citizen and investors? Answer for all these questions is urban study which is focused on named areas, including selected part of historical center.

The Reconstruction of the Old Post Building in Rousínov

The theme of the bachelor’s thesis is the reconstruction of the building of the former Post Office on the square in Rousínov, and its adjacent extension. This project originates from a studio project elaborated in the summer semester of the second grade of the bachelor’s study. In the past there was a post office, telegraph and telephone switchboard on the second floor. On the first floor there was a flat and some shops. In the front facade there was a barber Svoboda, collection of cloths and bones, staircase to the second floor and dwellings for poor. In previous time there were twelve hired soldiers with a their sergeant accommodated. The building remained unused for a long time, which affected the current technical condition. Nowadays it is impossible to use the building for the same purpose as in the past. For that reason it is necessary to find a new functional utilization. The building itself is rather small, of a simple rectangle ground plan. Along with the church and repaired old townhall it forms important places on the square of Rousínov. Taking into consideration the building location the information center, services for public, ie. hairdresser, beauty care, manicure, pedicure is designed on the first floor. On the second floor there are premises to be let for administrative purposes. In the attic there are social premises, such as projection hall or premises for family celebrations or business meetings. An important requirement was to keep the character of baroque‘s features – moulding, window holes, attic roof and broken arcs, arcades in the interior. The newly designed building consists of two parts – connecting glass passageway and a building used as an exhibition hall with public toilets. Due to lack of public and social events in the town Rousínov, on the first floor of the new building there is a sport’s center designed with two multipurposes halls, massages and a reception desk. The Portrayal of the Roaring Twenties in Francis Scott Fitzgerald's Novel The Great Gatsby

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine the reflection of the Roaring Twenties in Francis Scott Fitzgerald's outstanding novel The Great Gatsby. The study uses historical academic texts to place the book in its literary context and analyse what particular characteristics of the period influenced the author and how he portrays them in his work of literary art. This thesis consists of four parts, each of which concentrates on a specific subject. The first chapter introduces the topic and methodology, briefly describes the plot and pays attention to the author's biography regarding its influence on The Great Gatsby. The second part deals with the portrayal of the post-war United States in the novel. The following section analyses how the writer describes American society and its issues, while the fourth chapter studies Fitzgerald's depiction of the culture of the Roaring Twenties.

Intercultural aspects of non-verbal communication

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to define issues of non-verbal communication. It is focused on intercultural aspects that are present in non-verbal communication and have influence on it. The thesis is divided into four chapters. At first the term communication is explained and then there are explained terms such as interculturality and intercultural communication. Third chapter is focused on non-verbal communication. All the constituents of this type of communication are described and the examples from particular cultures are added. After that there is a comparative part that deals with forms of non-verbal communication in particular cultures. There is a comparison especially of European, Asian, American and Arabic cultures. This comparison is mainly focused on the main elements of non-verbal communication. In this chapter there are also explained some differences that are essential to know for understanding of non-verbal communication in different cultures and for peaceful interaction.
