Craniometric study of Central European populations of the white-toothed shrews Crocidura suaveolens and C. leucodon (Mammalia: Soricomorpha)
Milerová, Petra ; Vohralík, Vladimír (advisor) ; Anděra, Miloš (referee)
Interspecific and intraspecific size variability of the skull, mandibles and teeth of the lesser white- toothed shrew Crocidura suaveolens and the bicolored white-toothed shrew C. leucodon was studied on material of 350 skulls and 465 mandibles of white-toothed shrews obtained by analysis of the barn owl pellets originating from four regions in the Czech Republic and one region in the southern Slovakia. C. suaveolens was present in all regions under study, while sympatric C. leucodon occurred in three regions only. In total, 21cranial and dental measurements and 4 mandibular measurements were investigated. It was found that the most reliable measurement enabling discrimination between skulls of both species in the whole studied material is the lenght of the lower dental row. If skulls of both species were evaluated separately for each area of their sympatry it was possible to use also the distance between second molars M2 and the width of premolar P4 . Skulls of these two species can also be distinguished by bivariate graphs using the length and width of premolar P4 and the palatal length. We studied relationships between cranial measurements of both species and geoclimatic factors such as longitude, latitude, mean annual temperature and mean annual percipitation. It was found that variability of...
"The Invention" of Intelligence and its Reflection in Czech Pedagogical and Social-pedagogical Discourse, Based on Selected Academic Journals from 1888 to 1944.
Čechová, Anežka ; Kolářová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Herza, Filip (referee)
The thesis deals with intelligence, as a socio-cultural concept that has its own history and development. It thus deconstructs the naturalized notions of a biological "essence" of intelligence, which has not been proved to this day. The scientific and philosophical modes of thinking, that participated in both "inventing" intelligence and its forming, are introduced. The analysis of the primary sources enables to compass the reflection of these dominant scientific approaches towards intelligence in the Czech expert discourses. The thesis also reflects on the important role intelligence has in the assessment of mental norm and disability, and it thus analyses the perception of disability during the defined historical period, including the discourse analysis of the different representations of disability. Key words Intelligence, disability, craniometry, eugenics, pedagogy, medicine, biopower.
Kraniometrické vyhodnocení trofejí zvěře ulovené na Strakonicku v roce 2015
KROUPA, Robert
This thesis deals with the craniometric evaluation of trophy of hunted animals in district hunting association in Strakonice in 2015 which was presented on the breeder's trophy exhibition within the scope of the district hunting association (OMS) Strakonice in 2016. In total there were 604 pieces submitted documented trophies of roe deer (Capreolus capreolus). If there was a posisibility to do that the trophies were measured at every 16 craniometric dimensions on the skull, 4 dimensions on the lower jaw and 4 dimensions of antlers. We also take photographs of most measured trophies. . From the above measurements was evaluated and showed that some craniometric values are more or less dependent on the age and weight of the subject, while others are not.

Analysis of craniometric variability in the population of roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) in the district Žďár nad Sázavou
Košinová, Klára ; Hanzal, Vladimír (advisor) ; Mrkvičková Kořanová, Diana (referee)
The aim of this study was to determine the correlation of the mandible length of doe and offspring of roe deer with hunting time, weight and age of each individual. In the district Žďár nad Sázavou ran from 1992 collection and measurement of the lower jaw roe deer female and young. A total of 7560 lower jaw were evaluated in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 and it was 3888 from roe deer female and 3672 jaws of offsprings. Of the total number of captured pieces were cast, only 66%. After evaluating the data, it was found mutual correlation between the length of the mandible, weight and age of the individual. These relationships were statistically provable. The average length of the lower jaw of female was 153.44 mm at a weight of 13.03 kg and 4.4 years of age. The average length of the mandible of young 129.3 mm at a weight of 7.96 from the age of 5-7 months.
