Engineering principles in the design of plastic products
Strnad, Jan ; Dvořáček, Jiří (referee) ; Svoboda, Petr (advisor)
This Bachelor's thesis deals with an overview study of constructional and technological principles of plastic products. It includes characteristics and basic division of plastics by methods of application and factors affecting their properties. Except that, technological principles or methods of manufacturing and designing plastic products are mentioned. Next part is focused on principles of designing constructional components, such as chimneys, ribbings, stiffeners and many others. Final part is discussion which summarises utilization of plastics, their economic aspect or demand and production of plastics in the world and in Europe.
Experimental Verification of Making an Additional Opening to the Reinforced Concrete Walls
Šimek, Ondřej ; Zich, Miloš ; Požár, Michal ; Nečas, Radim
The subject of the article is to present the results of experiments of prefabricated reinforced concrete walls that were loaded prior to the making of an additional opening. These are walls that simulate a regular wall in a wall panel building, into which an additional opening is made. The walls are reinforced with different variants of reinforcement: from simple reinforcement with wire mesh to standard reinforcement around the perimeter, in the lintel and the pillars. The influence of so called "sleeping reinforcement" is studied. This reinforcement is pre-prepared in the panel for the case of making an additional opening. The effect of this reinforcement on the development of cracks and changes in strain on the panel after making the additional opening is studied. Long term monitoring of the panels with newly made opening is also conducted as a part of the experiment.
Analysis of the Equivalent Diagonal Strut Width of Infill Shear Wall with an Opening
Šimek, Ondřej ; Zich, Miloš
The subject of the article is a comparison of behavior of a precast reinforced concrete infill shear walls with an opening with different types of reinforcement. These are the walls that can ensure stiffness of the frame structure against horizontal load. Studied walls with an opening represent cases of how the wall can be reinforced prior to the implementation of an additional opening. The influence of the so called “sleeping reinforcement” is studied. This is a reinforcement that would take effect only after the additional opening has been made. Based on the already published results of the experiment and subsequent verification with numerical models, a parametric study is performed, where the influence of an opening size in these infill shear walls is studied on their load - bearing capacity and stiffness. Lastly, a comparison of the obtained results with available literature is made.
