Drugs in municipal wastewaters and their removal

This research bachelor's thesis focuses on the occurence of illicit drugs in municipal wastewaters and their removal in wastewater treatment plants. The thesis focuses in detail on four psychoactive substances, which are tetrahydrocannabinol, MDMA, cocaine and methamphetamine, and their most commonly monitored metabolites. The work provides an overview of their presence in the aquatic environment and in wastewaters at the influent to wastewater treatment plants. In surface water, substances are found in concentrations up to hundreds of nanograms per liter. Concentrations of drugs at the influent to wastewater treatment plants normally range from tens to hundreds of nanograms per liter, with increased consumption reaching several thousand nanograms per liter. The thesis also focuses to efficiency of removal of selected psychoactive substances and their main metabolites during different stages of wastewater treatment. The findings indicate that the primary treatment is significant for tetrahydrocannabinol, less so for other substances. Tetrahydrocannabinol and its metabolites, in contrast to the other investigated substances, are lipophilic and their sorption occurs on the solid phase of wastewater. Criminological Aspects of Drug-Related Crime The thesis deals with the topic of criminological aspects of drug-related crime. Due to the breadth of the issue, the work is focused only on the so-called primary drug crime, which is understood as a criminal activity consisting in violating the regulations governing the handling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Specifically, it deals with crime associated with the unauthorized handling of cannabis. The main goal of this work is to answer the question whether the criminal law regulation of unauthorized handling of cannabis chosen by the legislator is appropriate and respects in a reasonable way the specific criminological aspects related to cannabis. The first part focuses on explaining some basic terms that are used in the work. The second part deals with the interpretation of terms that are specifically related to the issue of illicit handling of cannabis. Also it includes the issue of the harmfulness of cannabis use and describes the state and trends of crime associated with cannabis use. Social and health aspects of smoking in the Army of the Czech Republic

Bachelor thesis deals with the theme of tobacco smoking among soldiers of the Army of the Czech Republic, ordepending on them. The aim of this thesis is to describe the situation of smoking in a selected group of respondents from two military batallions in southern Bohemia. The otheraimis to find out what Professional soldiersmean about negative lifestyle factors of smoking, and are they aware of the social and health aspects of smoking. This bachelor thesis is dividend into the oretical and research part. In the theoretical part are provided informatik about tobacco, health consequences of smoking, addiction, the impalt of smoking on smoking in ACR. The research part, which was performed by a questionnaire, deals with addiction on nicotin in ACR. It examines the quantity of smokers and non-smokers in the workplace, relations between soldiers and the influence of stressfuls ituations on smoking. The results show that the degree of dependence on tobacco products at the Czech Army is a few percent lower than in the general population (28-32% of the population), and 25% of smokers of hundred respondents between 20-35 years of age. Surprisingly it was also found that stressful situations that are caused by demanding service in the Army, do not call the selected respondents desire a cigarette or use other tobacco products. This group accounts for only 2% of a hundred respondents.
