Iterative Improving of Transcribed Speech Recordings Exploiting Listener's Feedback

Iterative Improving of Transcribed Speech Recordings Exploiting Listeners' Feedback Abstract This Ph.D. thesis deals with making a corpus of audio recordings of a single speaker accessible to wide public and interested community. The work has been motivated by the existence of a set of perishing recordings of the Czech philosopher Karel Makoň on magnetophone tapes. The aim is to conserve the material for future generations and to make it accessible using digital technologies, in particular publishing the recordings online and enabling the users to search through them. The thesis introduces the creation of a system for transcribing a large set of speech recordings employing a lay community. The solution designed is based on obtaining a baseline low-quality transcription by means of automated speech recognition and developing an application that allows for collecting corrections of the automatic transcription in a fashion that makes it usable as training data for further improvement of said transcription. Evaluation of Local Action Groups' Activity

The thesis deals with action of local action groups (LAGs) in the Czech Republic at the beginning of the new programming period. During the last seven years, LAGs proved to be an ideal cooperation platform of local actors, which leads to the integrated development of its home territory. The aim of this work is to evaluate the activity of LAGs, with an emphasis on the process of social networking, sectors cooperation at the local level, promote economic activities LAGs and ensure their operation. Analysis of the functioning of LAGs was based on guided interviews with LAG managers or LAG directors, and representatives of rural development institutions. Selection of interviewed LAG representatives was based on the LAGs evaluation from 2010, 2011 and 2012. Results of guided interviews with LAGs' representatives and experts served to define the barriers that currently impede the development of rural areas through the LEADER method and community planning. Furthermore, the results of field research confirmed that LAGs activity supports the development of social networks in its home territory and breaking down barriers between public, private and non-profit sectors.

Fundraising in non-profit cultural project of civic association Auto*Mat - with focus on the project “Zažít město jinak”

This thesis describes fundraising in non-profit cultural project, therefore describes possibilities in raising financial and non-financial resources needed for realization of cultural project. Theoretical part of this thesis explains characteristics of non-profit sector, describes concept of fundraising, deals with principles and methods of fundraising and last but not least describes possibilities of financing non-profit sector and cooperation of multiple subjects in this sector. Practical part of this thesis is aimed on concrete cultural project -- neighborhood festival "Zažít město jinak" arranged by civic association Auto*Mat with focus on development, concept, target, organization and fundraising of this festival. This thesis analyzes current state of fundraising in connection to sustainability of "Zažít město jinak", bonds between organizers and forms of cooperation with emphasis on community cooperation.
