Structure of Trade-Unionstical Press Between 1948-1956

This diploma thesis "Structure of Trade-Union's Press Between 1948-1956" is focused on the period from 25th February 1948 till 26th February 1956. The first part is mainly focused on the situation within this period. Firstly it was needed to mention the historical background with focus on the official state policy. This thesis describes also the development of The Revolution Trade-Unions (ROH), which was done in its way as reflection on the state policy. For the better understanding there is described the situations of the Czech press in generally, as trade-union's press reflected that as well. The second and third part is firstly focused how trade-union's press was working; it means its organisation-structure, distribution, promotion or archival-collection-process. This work is concerned also on the editorial site - there is focus on the redactors and their tasks. As the examples of redactors there are mentioned two personalities: František Dvořák and Jiří Síla. Both of them did significant work for trade-union-press and it is interesting to put the light on their lives within 1948-1956. This diploma thesis is attempting to analyze the events of November and December 1989 in Czechoslovakia through the eyes of English-speaking witnesses, both at the time and in retrospect, using English language sources. The goal of the thesis is to distill from the analysis notions of freedom and whether there are perceptions of change since 1989. Included in the definition of "freedom" is the means by which it was achieved.

František Holman: life one resistence fighter, member of the group Brdy - Neliba

This thesis deals with the guerrilla group Brdy - do not like and Francis Holman action within its organization. Resistance group Brdy - Displeasure was established in 1938. Beginning of its activities is associated with John Strap quantified from the village. In the first phase, which lasted until the summer of 1941, members of the organization materially and financially assist families of detainees. In June 1941 he fled from Prague Hořovice displeasure at Jaroslav, who came to arrest by the Gestapo because of his Communist activities in the First Republic. He was one of the accused in spy scandal in the Škoda factories. I do not like the end of 1941, hiding in the Joseph Paška quantified, then a connection with him II. illegal Communist Party central leadership, it becomes the active Member, in his resistance work continues on III bootleg central party leadership. It builds on the cover Újezd of which was controlled by guerrilla activity around Podbrdy. In November 1944 he was arrested by the Gestapo Jaroslav displeasure.
