Mountain trekking in diabetic patients treated with an insulin pump
Bytelová, Sophie ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Title: Mountain tourism for diabetics with an insulin pump Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out whether it is suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus treated with an insulin pump to undergo physical activity in the form of mountain tourism, as the more intense physical aktivity affects blood glucose levels and whether patients are able to work with advanced insulin pump functions. Methods: The work is conceived as an observational study of the Medtronic educational project. One day mountain hike trip of a distance about 30 km was attended by 40 patients (men and women) with diabetes aged 15-25 years. Non-invasive methods were used. The data was obtained by monitoring insulin pump probes, glucometers and continuous monitoring, which were further evaluated using the CareLink Pro software. Results: Physical activity in the form of mountain tourism is suitable for patients with DM1 treated on an insulin pump. 80% of the probands did not have a risk status of hypoglycaemia, and even though the determined normoglycemia for research was performed by a larger number of adults as opposed to children, this FA has a demonstrable effect on blood glucose levels. It also brings positive benefits for patients because they learn how to work better with advanced insulin pump functions....
Evaluation of quality of life in patients with DM with different methods of insulin delivery.
Nováková, Ilona ; Marsová, Jana (advisor) ; Kubátová-Šafránková, Iva (referee)
This thesis deals with the quality of life in patients with diabetes mellitus first type with different routes of administration of insulin. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and research. The first describes the theoretical overall diabetes mellitus, as well as its basic distribution, complications and treatment options, focusing primarily on treatment with an insulin pump. It also outlines the concept of quality of life, both individually and in association with chronic disease. The second part is devoted to research, whose main objective is based on information obtained through a questionnaire survey to determine whether the application of insulin using an insulin pump improves the quality of life in patients with diabetes mellitus first types. Comprehensive care of patient with insulin pump.
HUBKOVÁ, Šárka
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of diabetes mellitus and specializes mainly in the treatment of the disease with insulin pump. Insulin pump is most commonly used in the treatment of type 1 diabetes. The aim of the thesis was to find out what the specifics in treating the patient with an insulin pump are. To achieve this, the empirical part of the thesis was elaborated by means of a qualitative research survey, which was carried out through semi-structured interviews with insulin pump users and nurses working in diabetes counselling. We have achieved many interesting results through research. Every patient who wants to be treated with an insulin pump undergoes 6-day hospitalization during which insulin pump handling is learned. From patient interviews, we also learn that the most common complication is hypoglycaemia. Hypoglycaemia is most often caused by a dietary mistake or an incorrect amount of insulin administered to the body. However, hypoglycaemia can be prevented by using a sensor that is inserted into the subcutaneous tissue and reads the blood glucose every five to ten minutes. It was also found that nurses are not the main source of information for insulin pump users. The results of the research revealed that the most frequent use of the patient education is the representative of the company from which the patient has an insulin pump. Thanks to this thesis, there is now a well-arranged material which not just the medical staff can use to learn about the biggest difficulties and its possible solutions for the patients with insulin pumps. Thanks to this material, nurses in ordinary wards can also understand the needs of an insulin pump patient.

Nutrition of diabetics treated with the continual insulin pump
VALOVÁ, Barbora
My bachelor thesis focuses on nutrition of diabetic people with continuous insulin pump. The theoretical part describes diabetes mellitus as a disease. In this part I describe you treatment possibility and also I introduce you the way of eating. In my research there were involved ten respondents, who suffer from diabetes mellitus and all of them were treated with continuous diabetic pump. This research includes two parts. At first I want to findout and evaluate rating habits of diabetics who have insulin pump. And I will compare these results with recommendation of Diabetic Czech Society. To reach this, I used record dairy, where I follow these parameters: eaten food, measured blood glucose value and physical activity for 1 week. For second part of this research I use interview. I try to find out how patients, who live with continuous insulin pump evaluated their current rating habits. From analysed data it is clear that respondents have much less calorie intake than they really need. Despite the fact that most respondents have right food composition forms with recommendation of CDS. Amount of cholesterol in their diet do not exceed daily recommendation about 300 mg per day. On the other hand recommended daily dose offibres 30 grams and in our case respondents received half less. About 11 grams per day. The assessment of interviews shows that the diabetics are satisfied with continuous insulin pump. Thanks to this, they do not have to follow regular regime. They are also able to work in places where the regular regime is not possible. These results can be used as a study material for diabetic people who are treated with continuous insulin pump. Study material could be a leaflet in diabetic clinics.
