Volunteering and Social Participation of People with Intellectual Disabilities

The aim of bachelor thesis on Volunteering and Social Participation of People with Intellectual Disabilities is to disclose the stances of volunteer coordinators about engaging people with intellectual disabilities in a volunteer activity. The thesis is divided into a therotical and a practical part. The theoretical part is divived in two main chapters. The first chapter deals with a definition of the term intellectual disabilities, a clasification and a characterization of individual stages of intellectual disabilities. The second chapter focuses on volunteering, volunteers themselve, who is the volunteer coordinator and it focuses on the mentally handicaped volunteers. The practical part contains the established target and three research questions, which determine the stances of the volunteer coordinators about engaging mentally handicaped people in a volunteer activity. A qualitative research grounded theory was used to proces the data. A semi-structured interview was used for the purpose of this thesis. Communication partners were chosen randomly out of organizations for a coalition of volunteer iniciatives, which is a part of a project Hestie a national volunteer center. Their answers were compiled by a technique of open coding. The results show that most of the volunteer coordinators approach the volunteers with intellectual disabilities very openly and would welcome their collaboration with their organization. The thesis can serve as a source of information for sociology and pedagogical students who deal with the subject of volunteering of mentally handicaped people.
Bibliotherapy as a tool to develop the communication skills of pupils with mild intellectual disability

Diploma Work Bibliotherapy as a tool of developing communication skills pupils with mild intellectual disabilities deals with opportunity of using bibliotherapy and its elements within Czech langage lessons. The educator by the means of appropriate reading materials affects the verbal expression advancement of pupils with mild intellectual disabilities. The aims to develop suitable exercises and arrange them into a bibliotherapy program, to show the beneficial effect that working with texts can have on the pupils' communicative competence, and to make certain that the program operates as expected, through working directly with the pupils, observing them and evaluating the different outputs of the program. Outcomes of the research prove pupils' improvements in desired sphere. Ergotherapy for pupils in the pracitcal classes

Bachelor Work called Ergotherapy for pupils in the practical classes looks into possibilities of using ergotherapy to the individual's development of social skills through games and handcrafts aktivity in practical classes pupils diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities and behavioral and sociocultural disadvantage pupils. The goal of work is to design an ergotherapy program for the pupils of practical classes, and demonstrate meaningfulness of using of ergotherapy for the development of social skills and checking its success through research methods of direct work with pupils and observation. The research results show improvements these pupils in the desired area.
