Spa therapy after total hip arthroplasty. Procedures, results.
ŠTIFTER, Šimon
Presented bachelor thesis is focused on the effect of spa treatment after total hip arthroplasty. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis contains the anatomy and kinesiology of the hip joint, including muscles description and functions, which are involved in the movement of this joint. Subsequently, there is information about total hip arthroplasty, including the types of endoprostheses, used materials, or indications and contraindications to this operation. Next, surgical approaches and possible complications that may occur in relation with implantation are described. A significant part of the theoretical part is devoted to the structure of posthospital treatment, namely spa treatment, which describes the individual procedures that can be used with this diagnosis in the spa environment. The objective of the work was to find out how spa treatment affects convalescence and for this reason, in the practical part, the method of qualitative research was used, in which the research group consisted of six probands aged from 61 to 74 years who underwent total hip arthroplasty. For objectivity of the research, the criterion was determined that all subjects were approximately two months after the operation. Probands were divided into two groups of three, one group of those who had undergone spa treatment and, for comparison, the second group of those who had not yet. All probands underwent eight therapies with the same exercise unit. The obtained data were then processed in the form of case reports, including input and output kinesiological analysis and the course of individual therapies. The results show that there was a positive effect on all probands, but the improvement was more noticeable in people who completed a spa stay. The bachelor's thesis can be used as a source of information either for students or the professional public, but also for patients who are currently waiting for an implantation or spa stay.
Complex problems of total coxa arthroplasty and the possibility of physiotherapeutic intervention
SMITKOVÁ, Aneta
This bachelor thesis is aimed at the complex total hip joint replacement problematics and its possibilities in physiotherapeutic positive influence. The theoretical part of this thesis describes the anatomy and kinesiology of the hip joint, implantation of the total hip joint replacement and subsequent rehabilitation. In the individual subchapters artificial joint classification, operating procedures, surgery cicatrix, patient education, contraindications, representative indications, functional malfunctions and its hip joint impact, preoperative and postoperative rehabilitation, physical therapy and rehabilitation from abroad perpective can be found. Quantitative research method was applied in the practical part. The representative sample compunded of 3 representatives. The most important criterion for them was to have had the total hip joint replacament done not longer than 3 days ago. The research included half-structured interview, input and output kinesilogical analysis and the collected data analysis. Each representative underwent 10 therapies, which were composed of my own excercise unit and physiotherapeutic procedures. The data analysis collected over those 10 therapies has shown that excercise unit of mine with the chosen physiotherapeutic procedures has improven those patients overall physical condition, has lower their lower limb swelling and its pain, has enhanced their joint scope, its active mobility and muscle strenght. This bachelor thesis might serve as either a useful resource of information regarding the total hip joint replacement problematics for professionals in this field or for patients awaiting or having underwet this surgergy. Last but not least current and future physiotherapist may also find this thesis useful in their work.
Nursing care about a patient related to pacemaker implantation
Kazmířová, Jitka ; Zvoníčková, Marie (advisor) ; Osmančík, Pavel (referee)
Pacemaker implantation is a relatively common treatment of bradyarrhythmias today. This work deals with the nursing care about a patient who undergoes this surgery. The theoretical section summarizes the implantation issue, its indications, available devices and describes the typical course of the implantation. The practical part presents a case report. A fifty-six year old female patient undergoes a pacemaker implantation. She suffers from sick sinus syndrome manifested with bradycardia and palpitations, recently states of weakness and dizziness appeared, there were several collapses. The nursing process is handled according to the Model by M. Gordon. Particular attention is paid to mental state of the patient. Education of is also promoted. The patient must properly understand the reason for pacemaker implantation indication. She must also be advised of the necessary regimen after the surgery, which is an essential part of the treatment. Objectives that were set out in the plan of nursing care were achieved. The patient successfully underwent surgery, she was thoroughly educated and we can expect an increase in the quality of her life.
Potential and significance of extended embryo culture
Uher, Petr ; Rokyta, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Slípka, Jaroslav (referee) ; Pilka, Ladislav (referee)
The aim of this dissertation thesis is to emphasize the sense of extended cultivation of embryos to the stadium of blastocyst and its influence on success of assisted reproduction and facilitation of pre implantation diagnosis, analysis of cultivation media and derivation of human embryonic stem cells. Author summarizes current literary findings in assisted reproduction and examines the currently used methods. Author also submits his own published experimental works, in which he compares his own results of infertility treatment with usage of extended cultivation to blastocyst with results of other techniques. Furthermore author submits his own published experimental works which are using extended cultivation for pre implantation diagnosis and its improvement. Another experimental works includes possibility of stem cells derivation. Usage of extended cultivation to blastocyst convincingly leads, according to author's own experiments and simultaneously to available literary findings, to higher success of infertility treatment. This is especially significant by middle-aged mothers. Sufficient term of cultivation enables not just selection, but also biopsy and its generic treatment. Long-term cultivation also enables analysis of cultivation media - but these didn't met the expectations for increase of...
Histomorphological Changes in Normal and Pathological Cartilage Tissues and after their Experimental and Clinical Transplantation
Kaňa, Radim ; Nečas, Emanuel (advisor) ; Slípka, Jaroslav (referee) ; Ludvíková, Marie (referee)
1 Abstract Introduction Autologous transplants of the cartilage tissue from the pinna is commonly used in reconstructive surgery of the nasal skeleton. The present study used animal models to elucidate responses of the auricular cartilage to its damage or transplantation to ectopic sites. Histomorphological analysis of changes observed in auricular cartilage including immunohistochemical study of different isoforms of actin and S-100 proteins was performed. Human articular cartilage prepared by in vitro cultivation using artificial scaffolds was also studied after its transplantation. Aims of the study The aim was to study histological changes and expression of chondrocytic markers (α- SMA and S-100 proteins) in intact, artificially traumatised, or in a human auricular cartilage cultivated in culture medium. An attempt to grow human auricular cartilage chondrocytes implanted in vitro into various types of three dimensional scaffolds aimed at testing chondrocyte survival and phenotype both in the culture and after transplantation to immunodeficient mice. A human auricular cartilage transplanted into the nasal skeleton of patients during a reconstruction surgery should be submitted to a histomorphological examination. Research assumed also comparison of the auricular cartilage responses to a damage,...
Migration and homing of mesenchymal stem cells.
Porkertová, Michaela ; Tlapáková, Tereza (advisor) ; Turnovcová, Karolína (referee)
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotential progenitor cells derived from the mesodermal germ layer of vertebrate embryos. These cells are able to differentiate in different cell types, such as adipocytes, chondrocytes, osteocytes and others. The differentiation potential of MSC is closely related to their other abilities, with immune system regulation and regeneration of damaged tissues. After injury, MSCs migrate to affected areas where they supress the immune response and reduce inflammation. MSCs also promote regeneration of the affected area by differentiating in cell types according to the actual needs of the organism. This brings us to the most important attribute of MSCs, namely their migratory potential. MSCs are able to migrate across the body using the bloodstream and into the tissues through complicated mechanism using many factors. The aim of this thesis is to prepare a comprehensive review of current knowledge about MSCs, their migration and homing.
