Chosen organizations of Czech Caritas and their activities in the field of foreign humanitarian assistance and development cooperation

(in English): The diploma thesis deals with the activities of Czech Caritas organizations in the field of humanitarian assistance and development cooperation abroad. The aim of the work is to explore the possibilities and limits of transferring and sharing "good practice". The work consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is structured in three main chapters, which deal with humanitarian aid and development cooperation topics, describe the selected Czech Caritas organizations and define "good practice". The practical part consists of a descriptive research of the selected Czech Caritas organizations activities in the field of humanitarian assistance and development cooperation abroad executed between 2000 and 2016 and qualitative research of employee's approaches to mutual sharing of "good practice". Research questions are answered by combining questionnaire survey and interviews which are conducted with the help of the manual. The main results of this thesis is a summary table containing descriptions of activities in the field of humanitarian assistance and development cooperation abroad and presentation of employee's attitudes to "good practice" and its sharing.
Neutrality of humanitarian organisations in armed conflicts: People in need in Eastern Ukraine

This bachelor thesis deals with neutrality of humanitarian organisations in armed conflicts. The aim of the thesis is to show on a case study of Czech humanitarian organisation People in need in Eastern Ukraine what are the limits and what are the opportunities of the humanitarian principle of neutrality. Chapters about theory of humanitarian aid and humanitarian situation in Eastern Ukraine create a base for the following case of People in need. People in need provide humanitarian relief in Eastern Ukraine since August 2014. Thanks to the principle of neutrality the organisation could have worked in both, the area under control of Ukrainian government and the area administrated by separatist's quasi-states in Eastern Ukraine. Time frame of the thesis is from summer 2014 to the end of 2016 when "Donetsk poeple's republic" has not extended PiN's registration. The case study shows that the main limit of the principle is trying to be seen as neutral. However thanks to fulfilling the principle of neutrality, the organisation can get to people who need the humanitarian aid the most.

(English) The thesis focuses on the issue of humanitarian assistance under international humanitarian law. The topic was chosen based on the personal interest of the author of the thesis and also based on the fact that it is a current and very discussed issue. The thesis is concerned with the legal sources governing the concept of humanitarian assistance. It also focuses on the history of the concept paying special attention to its modern development and to the principles on which it is based. Individual chapter is dedicated to the issue of providers and beneficiaries of humanitarian assistance. Special attention is also given to the issue of consent with the facilitation of humanitarian assistance, whether it is necessary to sough such a consent and from whom. Significant part of the thesis focuses on the facilitation and distribution of humanitarian assistance and the obligations of the third states. The first chapter of the thesis is dedicated to the introduction, definition of the term "humanitarian assistance", aims and goals of the thesis, and also to the methods and sources. Activities of the European Union in Palestine

The core of this work is the activity of the European Union in the Palestinian territories, which, however, it is necessary to define it historically and in the politico-geographical sphere. In addition, to understand all the contexts we need a policy towards Palestine fit into the theoretical framework of the foreign and security policy of the EU and other relevant policies. The largest part of this work is devoted to the presence and activities of the European Union in Palestine and subsequent analysis. Initially outlines the historical context of this activity for compare it with the existing forms of humanitarian, despite the economic and trade cooperation, to the respective positions of representatives of the European Union and its members to declare autonomy. However, it is necessary to generalize this work in the context of the common security and foreign policy of the European Union. The aim of this thesis is an analysis and assessment of involvement its results.
