PROBLEMS OF INVESTIGATION OF STAGED HOMICIDES Abstract The presented diploma thesis deals with the issue of investigation of staged homicides. The primary aim of the thesis is to point out the specifics and problems that investigation of staged homicides entails. The thesis places particular emphasis on the unusualness of the crime scene search that comes with the investigation of staged homicides, then on the importance of use of the forensic expertise, and, finally, on selected problems related to this type of investigation. In addition, the thesis aims to confront the theoretical part with practical knowledge obtained from people participating in the investigation. Furthermore, the thesis also aims to provide an evaluation of the current practice. The thesis consists of seven chapters apart from the introduction and conclusion. In the first chapter, the concept of staging is generally defined, and further attention is paid to homicide staging and reflection on foreign studies. The second chapter is devoted to the legal definition of homicide and its criminalistic characteristics. The third chapter contains brief characteristics of individual staging methods that may appear in criminalistic practice. Crime of murder and manslaughter under section 140, 141 of the Criminal Code Abstract This thesis is focused on crimes of murder and manslaughter under Act No. 40/2009 Coll., Criminal Code. The aim of the thesis is to deliver a complex analysis of crimes of murder and manslaughter under section 140, 141 of the Criminal Code and evaluate them de lege ferenda. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to the historical development of intentional killings regulation in the premises of today's Czech Republic. In particular, the attention is brought to the Austrian Penal Act from 1852 all the way up to the adaptation of the present Criminal Code of the Czech Republic. The second chapter is focused on actus reus of the crime of murder and manslaughter. Both of these crimes are of special significant object - the human life. This chapter's focus is also dedicated to the beginning and the end of human life from the perspective of criminal law. The third chapter focuses on the analysis of the crime of murder and its systematization under the present Criminal Code. Methodology of investigating specific homicides (focused on staged suicides) This diploma thesis deals with the methodology of investigating homicides and suicides, it determines the common and divergent traces left on a victim's body as well as on a crime scene and examines circumstances which motivate a perpetrator to stage a suicide. Last but not least, the thesis describes specific features of individual investigative acts. The aim of the thesis is not to bring a summary of the methodology of homicide investigation but it aims to draw the attention to the procedures typical for the investigation of murders which appear to be suicides and describes the ways how to distinguish staged suicides from the real ones. The thesis consists of six chapters. The first three chapters sum up the definitions of the terms homicide and suicide in criminal law and criminology, examine the circumstances prompting a murder perpetrator to stage a suicide, and describe the typical ways of committing homicides and suicides. The fourth chapter, which examines the important traces left on a victim's body and a crime scene, forms the core of the thesis. Does level of aggressiveness in society influence number of road fatalities in country?

The thesis analyses the relationship between level of aggressiveness in society and number of road fatalities using data from the states of European union from 2004 to 2008. It describes socioeconomic determinants that explain violent behavior in countries and than focuses on individual rate of aggressiveness and rate of aggressiveness in society. Regression analysis is made by fixed effects method after that. The analysis confirms positive relationship between rate of aggressiveness in society (measured by homicide rate and number of housebreaking) and number of road fatalities. Others significant variables were evaluated GDP growth, tax ratio amount, unemployment rate, number of doctors, young people ratio, alcohol consumption, seat belt using and number of passenger-kilometers in country. The mechanism of their effect on road fatalities rate is discussed. Estimated results were used to formulation of recommendation for reduce number of road fatalities.
