Loose-it-all machine

This bachelor thesis deals with the design and construction of a prototype of a “lose-it all” machine for educational purposes. The lose-it-all machine serves to implement a simple gambling game. The machine uses proprietary jettons as currency. The practical part of this bachelor’s thesis is dedicated to the description of the functionality, design, basic features, build construction, and the software solutions of the machine. It describes the physical implementation and creation of the various necessary parts of the lose-it-all machine. The theoretical part of this thesis includes research about gambling as well as an introduction to hazard addiction and its prevention.
The Betting Agent

This master thesis deals with design and implementation of betting agent. It covers issues such as theoretical background of an online betting, probability and statistics. In its first part it is focused on data mining and explains the principle of knowledge mining form data warehouses and certain methods suitable for different types of tasks. Second, it is concerned with neural networks and algorithm of back-propagation. All the findings are demonstrated on and supported by graphs and histograms of data analysis, made via SAS Enterprise Miner program. In conclusion, the thesis summarizes all the results and offers specific methods of extension of the agent.

Legal regulation and taxation of gambling mechanisms in video games Abstract In connection with the development and spread of information technologies to most households, new questions arise regarding their legal regulation. The old legal norms cannot keep pace with this development, and therefore a new phenomenon may emerge, which at first glance seems to have been neglected by law. This work explores one of these phenomena of information technology, namely Loot boxes, as a new, modern form of gambling targeted at minors and other vulnerable groups. Some Member States of the European Union, in particular Belgium and the Netherlands, have already reacted correctly to Loot boxes and banned the operation of some Loot boxes on their territory. Other countries, such as the United States, have been talking about regulation for a long time, but it has not yet happened. Loot boxes are internally divided into several types, and for some we cannot talk about gambling. In particular, these are cases where the possibility of buying a Loot box for money or the possibility of selling acquired virtual items for money, or a similar value that can be expressed in money, is completely missing. This bachelor thesis is focused on secondary school students´ gambling. The aim of the thesis is to reveal whether the students of a selected secondary vocational school gamble, in which way and whether they are instructed about risks connected with gambling in the framework of prevention. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The aim of the theoretical part is to characterise a concept of gambling in connection with secondary school students and to point at possible risks related to this pathologic issue. In the conclusion of the theoretical part, a prevention of pathologic gambling is outlined together with its possible solutions in case a student is gambling. The theoretical part is based on an analysis and a following synthesis of information obtained from a study of special sources. The aim of the practical part of the bachelor thesis is to discover whether the students of a selected secondary vocational school gamble, what kind of gambling they practise and in which way. The thesis is also aimed at revealing students´ awareness of gambling. The re-search construct is based on a quantitative approach, the main source of the data is a questionnaire research. The respondents of this research are students of the first-fourth classes of a secondary vocational school. The results of the research are presented in tables and charts in MS Excel programme.
Gambling and its Impact on Social Lives of Compulsive Gamblers

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of social impacts of gambling on the gambler's lifestyle. The target of this work is to describe the basic aspects of person´s life who suffers from addiction to gambling; to determine how and which areas gambling has changed the way of their life the most. The target of the work was chosen in order to reveal the most vulnerable areas in the individual dependencies during their life that affect their lifestyle. The theoretical part of the thesis in the first chapter deals with the theoretical definitions of the concepts of addiction, addictive and impulsive disorders. The second chapter focuses on gambling as such. Furthermore, the theoretical part of the thesis deals with the gambling lifestyle, treatment of pathological gambling and social work with pathological players. Based on the stated objectives of the work has been assigned one research question: How addiction to gambling influences the gambler´s lifestyle? Based on the identified issues was conducted qualitative research methods through in-depth interviews with three communication partners. Through these interviews there were found living areas that have been affected with gambling, consequently gambler´s lifestyle has been affected. These areas were described in detail in the practical part and then methods of bunches were used for mapping into the tables. This research showed that gambling addiction is not without significant negative social impacts and without changing the current lifestyle. This work may lead to an increased awareness of gambling and its social consequences for individuals who meet with the gamblers, so for the public.
Odds betting as a form of pathologic gambling among adolescents

The diploma thesis focuses on fixed-odds betting among male adolescents. In theoretical part, game as a whole life matter is explained, afterwards it aims closer to hazard game, especially fixed-odds betting. Regarding to children, multiple smaller studies, focused on risky behaviour on the internet and gambling, are introduced. Empirical part combines qualitative and quantitative approach. Interviews with betters jointly with the theory creates the base for hypothesises and questionnaire, which was distributed in five schools; three elementary and two high schools. Results of the empirical part are suggesting that adolescent boys have experiences with fixed-odds betting even though they are not of age. Frequently, the reason for betting is being involved in sport and the favourite form is on-line betting.
