Cross_section and reinforcement optimization of roof truss
Odvárka, Miroslav ; Šimůnek, Petr (referee) ; Laníková, Ivana (advisor)
The thesis is focused on optimization of cross-section shape of reinforced concrete truss. An optimization algorithm was created in Microsoft Office Excel which optimizes the shape and reinforcement of the reinforced concrete truss. The truss is as cheap as possible while complying with the ultimate limit state and serviceability limit state - deflection. The algorithm uses the Solver tool which is a supplement program Microsoft Office Excel. Two truss variants were created. One has a cross-sectional shape of a truss designed according to empirical relationships and the second comprises an optimized cross-sectional shape using the algorithm formed. The internal truss forces were detected using Scia Engineer. Both options were statically assessed. When comparing the variants, that a considerable part of the material cost can be saved when optimizing the cross-sectional shape.
Optimization Methods for SIMLIB/C++
Godula, Martin ; Martinek, David (referee) ; Peringer, Petr (advisor)
Bachelor's thesis is concerned with methods for global optimization. It deals with concept of optimization theoretically, and describes its goals and chosen optimization methods, suggests process of their implementation with regard to compatibility with simulation library SIMLIB/C++. It describes their implementation in C++ language and demostrates their functionality on different test problems and evaluates their rate of success.

Problem of the nearest correlation matrix
Sotáková, Martina ; Pešta, Michal (advisor) ; Maciak, Matúš (referee)
This work deals with the problem of finding the correlation matrix closest to the given symetric matrix, the distance of which is measured considering the Frobenius norm. The theoretical part of the thesis describes a method used for finding the solution to this problem based on the dual approach and application of Newton method. The method is further modified for other cases. In the practical part we apply the theory to simple math problems.
