Prevention and Rehabilitation of Overloading the Connective Tissue of Lower Limbs of Ice-Hockey Goalkeepers
BEDNAŘÍK, Karel
This bachelor thesis addresses the issue of compensatory exercises as a full-value part of the training of ice-hockey goalkeepers within the scope of prevention and rehabilitation of injuries caused by a one-sided load and overloading of lower limb tissues. The first objective of the thesis was to ascertain the situation concerning the inclusion of compensatory and relaxation procedures in the training of young and adult ice-hockey goalkeepers. The second objective was to propose suitable compensatory exercises and to prove their effect on the organism. The basic strategy of the bachelor thesis was a combination of quantitative and qualitative research. When collecting the data, I used the method of structured questionnaires with open-ended and closed-ended questions, structured interviews, observation methods and special physiotherapeutic examination. I used the clinical examination methods of aspection, palpation, myodynamia measurement, goniometry and other physiotherapeutic methods. The obtained data have been summarized in tables. The tested set was created by selection when the clients had to fulfil the following requirements: - the client is an ice-hockey player at the top or high level - the client is a goalkeeper - the clients are from various age groups and various ice-hockey clubs In order to attain the first objective of the thesis, I selected a group of nine respondents from nine ice-hockey clubs associated in the Czech Ice Hockey Association (ČSLH) and foreign ice-hockey clubs. In order to attain the second objective, I selected a group of six clients which underwent a 3-month research ended with the comparison of the entry and final examinations. Based on these results, I graphically represented the effect and potential of compensatory exercises as a suitable and integral part of the training process. The results have shown that relaxation and compensatory methods are very often marginalized in the training and preparation of ice-hockey goalkeepers, although these methods may prevent one-sided overload, subsequent problems and injuries of lower limb tissues. The thesis proves that although the negative consequences of one-sided overloading are known, their compensation and remedy do not enjoy sufficient attention and no or few compensatory mechanisms are utilized in practice. Nevertheless, it is absolutely obvious from the thesis results that that compensatory and relaxation methods have a very positive effect on the problems caused by a one-sided load, both in preventive and rehabilitation terms.
The influence of physiotherapy on improving general state of patients suffering from Multiple sclerosis
ČERVINSKÁ, Klára
The bachelor thesis summarizes present knowledge of the disease Multiple sclerosis and its ways of treatment. The aim of the thesis, is to build up a suitable complex physiotherapeutical treatment, which would have a positive effect on a general state of patients suffering from MS. The thesis consists of two parts. The first part is devoted to etiopathogenesis, symptoms of the illness, diagnostics, pharmacological therapy and the importace of rehabilitation treatment. The second experiential part contains a case study of two patients suffering from different forms of the illness. It describes their present health state, the course of the rehabilitation treatment and its evaluation. Furthermore performed examinations, medical history and a suggestion of a longterm rehabilitation treatment are also presented in this part. The research took place in the Multiple Sclerosis centre in Prague. The effect of the physical therapy was evaluated by measurement of physical condition and a kinesiological analysis. The thesis also involves a questionnaire in which the patients evaluate influence of physiotehrapy on their general state from their point of view. Rehabilitation has an effect on the state of patients particularly in correction of posture, breath stereotype and affecting balance. Physiotherapy helps the patients to influence some of the symptoms of the disease and therefore improve everyday-life activities. However the effect is only shortlasting. Consequently it is necessary to exercise on a long term basis and to adapt the therapy according to the progressive character of the disease.
Physiotherapy as a component of an active stance to a senior´s age
DUDOVÁ, Helena
Problems of senior age are currently and in the view of demographic situation an up-to-date social issue. Many branches of science and various organizations deal with senior age, its particularities in order to help to cope with difficulties which are usually associated with aging and old age. Bachelor thesis involve in the issue of senior age in its active experience which might be strengthened by physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation. The theoretical part of thesis focuses on description of senior age, possibilities of physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation in the old age and on the role of a physiotherapist in the health and social services. The practical part of bachelor thesis assesses questionnaires of an anonymous survey which has been carried out in several health and social services of chosen towns in the Plzeň region (Plzeň, Klatovy, Sušice) and South Bohemia region (České Budějovice, Strakonice, Vodňany). The questionnaires assessed whether a standard offer of those health and social services provided kinesiotherapy and various forms of physical therapy and whether the different offer showed the different satisfaction of seniors. The results show that some forms of physical therapy in the chosen health and social services are not represented, nevertheless this fact does not considerably influence the seniors´ satisfaction. In fact the respondents relatively seldom use provided services of physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation. That is why it would be helpful to extend the offer of physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation in the health and social services and at the same time to increase seniors´ information about the beneficial effect on their physical and mental health.
Physiotherapy at people suffering from the oncology diagnosis focusing on the breast tumours
MALENINSKÁ, Zuzana
My Bachelor thesis Physiotherapy at people suffering from the oncology diagnosis focusing on the breast tumours, deals particularly with the most frequent malignant breast tumour which is breast carcinoma. The aim of the work in the theoretical part is to make a survey of the breast carcinoma issue with the intention to describe complications after the operation of the breast tumour which occur due to the removal of gravity lymph nodes and their therapy. In the practical part I watched the female patients after the surgery and the changes which occurred, as well as the issue whether the early therapy helped the patients to avoid the after-operation complications. I used the metod of the quality research which was carried out with two female patients who had the surgery major becouse of the diagnosed breast carcinoma. The patients were chosen according to the extent of the surgery major from the basic group of patients of The Hospital Surgical Ward in České Budějovice (Chirurgické oddělení Nemocnice České Budějovice a.s.). I used the following data collection techniques {--} interview, anamnesis, observation (kinesiology analysis), casuistry and personal medical documentations analysis. The results were processed by the form of casuistries. On the basic of patients observations I have proved the fact that the early therapy prevents the after-operation complications. It resulted in better ability to move with the shoulder joint, the relaxing of the soft tissues, regeneration of chest mobility and the correct breathing. Responsible attitude of the patient to self-therapy and preventive practices are an integral part of the therapy. The thesis can be used for needs of the clinical work of physiotherapists, different medical staff members and students who deal with this issue.
Osteoarthrosis large joints of legs in context of physiotherapy
KAŇKOVSKÁ, Martina
My Bachelor thesis' name is Ostheo-arthrosis large joints of legs in context of physiotherapy. I particularly dealt with problems of the origin, treatment and prevention of an ostheo-arthrosis. The first theoretical part contains theoretical basis which are associated with this illness. The main chapters are focused on an anatomic part, the definition of the terms gonarthrosis and coxarthrosis, causes, diagnose, treatment and prevention. The practical part includes two casuistries of patients after the operation of a total hinge substitute. The aim of the theoretical part was to inform about problems of ostheo-arthrosis and its prevention and confirmation of the physiotherapy influence during the follow-up development of the hinge functionality after the operation. The aim of the practical part was to find out on the basis of the casuistries if the physiotherapy treatment could help with improvement of a hinge moveabillity. The method of a qualitative research was used for the practical part. The research was made in the Hospital Jihlava at the sick-bed orthopaedic detachment. The tested set includes two cases of patients with diagnoses gonarthrosis and coxarthrosis. These diagnoses were made out by the attending physician of the patients. The results are processed in forms of casuistries. There was a real improvement in operated hinge moveability by both of the patients. My thesis could be useful as a theoretical basis for students of medical branches of universities. It could be useful for physiotherapists, as well. It could be an inspiration as a suggestion of rehabilitating plan for patients of these diagnoses.
Possible procedures as part of physiotherapy treatment in patients with lower limb amputation
SAVVINOVÁ, Kristýna
My bachelor thesis seeks to provide an insight into the issues associated with amputation of lower extremities. Amputation is an extensive surgical intervention which removes peripheral parts of the body. The objective of the theoretical part of my thesis was to present to the general public the issues associated with the return of patients after the amputation of a lower limb back to the normal life and the objective of the practical part was to make the return easier by means of a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to the patient. The research was performed using a qualitative method, by means of case studies of two male probands who underwent an amputation of the right lower limb at the thigh. The two probands were of similar age and with the same type of amputation. The first patient was hospitalized in the hospital Nemocnice sv. Zdislavy s.r.o., Mostiště, where I was involved in early postsurgery physiotherapy. The second patient was in the therapeutic center (Hamzova odborná léčebna pro děti a dospělé), in Luže {--} Košumberk, where I concentrated on physiotherapeutic procedures suitable for a prosthetic stage of rehabilitation. I selected the two probands also in order to demonstrate that it is important not only to provide early postsurgery rehabilitation but also rehabilitation in the prosthetic stage with a subsequent continuation of autotherapy. Both the patients experienced a major improvement of their physical and mental condition; this was undoubtedly supported by the comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach throughout the entire period of the provided care. In terms of taking care of themselves, the patients are now nearly self-sufficient, which is very important for their return back to the regular life. The thesis may be further used in clinical practice of physiotherapists and medical personnel. It may also serve as an educational material for patients.
Supportive therapy with dog´s assistance as a part of the coherent physiotherapy for the physically disabled person
BAUEROVÁ, Monika
ABSTRACT The use of animals as man{\crq}s helpers or companions is as old as domestication itself. Contact with an animal, if accepted positively by the person, relaxes, slows down heartbeat and lowers blood pressure, releases tension, intermediates communication, compensates for missing abilities of people. Canistherapy as a supporting rehabilitation method contributes to the relaxation of muscle spasms, development of fine and gross motor skills, stimulates verbal and non-verbal communication, orientation in space, enhances motivation to participate in one{\crq}s own healing process, and improves the client{\crq}s interaction with other clients and nurses. The theoretical part of the Bachelor thesis is dedicated to the definition of canistherapy within comprehensive rehabilitation of people with a motor apparatus disability. Particular attention is paid to the issue of individuals affected by cerebral palsy and achondroplasia. The goal of the Bachelor thesis is to determine the influence of a dog-assisted therapy on people with a motor apparatus disability. A partial goal is to define the standing and position of a dog-assisted therapy within integral comprehensive rehabilitation of the client. The research is mainly focused on the use of the Animal Assisted Therapy method. Qualitative techniques of data collection were used within the research part of the Bachelor thesis. The following data collection techniques were used: anamnesis, observation (kinesiology examination), secondary data analysis and photo documentation. Results of the action of AAT method canistherapy prove in different areas a positive influence on both monitored clients permanently living in a diagnostic social care institution. The research was carried out in a client suffering from a quadriplegia form of cerebral palsy and in a client with achondroplasia. Casuistries of both mentioned clients describe the way of dog assisted therapy conduct, progress and results.
Usage of special physiotherapeutic methodics in frozen shoulder syndrom
KUBALÁKOVÁ, Tereza
A topic of the bachelor thesis is the frozen shoulder syndrome. It is a common disability of the shoulder joint, but it belongs to one of the least explained illnesses of the shoulder. It has quite a typical course and objective findings, characteristic is particularly a limitation of an active and passive movement. This syndrome is a very painful, long-lasting condition. Patients usually recover, but they may never regain their full motility. A goal of the first part of the thesis was to work up theoretical supporting documents on this issue. A goal of the research part was a choice of clients with the frozen shoulder syndrome and a practical verification of various examination and therapeutic methods. I used a method of a qualitative research for the practical part of the bachelor thesis, a case study. The bachelor thesis can be used in a clinical practice of physiotherapists.
Physio-therapeutical methods after injuries of the flexor and extensor tendons of a hand
BENDOVÁ, Markéta
This diploma thesis entitled ``Physio-therapeutical methods after injuries of the flexor and extensor tendons of a hand{\crqq} describes the anatomy of forearm and hand muscles, as well as fascia and tendon loops. The main objective is to summarize a basic knowledge on injuries of the hand{\crq}s flexor and extensor tendons and physiotherapy of this problem. The work also includes the application of this knowledge into practice by elaboration of case reports of patients with injuries of the hand{\crq}s flexor and extensor tendons, which, among others, reveal a necessity of individual approach of the therapist and patient{\crq}s cooperation. The other objective of this study is to compare the theoretical approach to the injuries of the hand{\crq}s flexor and extensor tendons from the viewpoint of the physiotherapist in the Czech Republic and in Finland. To achieve this aim, I used the method of qualitative research; the data were collected in interviews with selected physiotherapists in the Czech Republic and in Finland. The comparison showed that the methodology used in Finland is rather similar to that used in the Czech Republic. In both countries, the process of therapy is tailored to patients individually and it respects the physician's recommendation.
Specific methods of physiotherapy treatment as part of a woman in the puerperium
AL-AHMADOVÁ, Laila
This bachelor's thesis focuses on physiotherapeutic techniques as part of care for women during the postpartum period. Most women actively attend prenatal classes, where they are instructed on how to exercise and perform routine activities to provide relieve to their musculoskeletal system. Unfortunately, the majority of women are not informed of how to continue after having given birth, when they experience considerable weight loss and the burden on the skeleton changes completely within several hours. The objective of my thesis is to provide an overview of the possibilities and utilization of special physiotherapy techniques to accelerate the normalization and stabilization of women's musculoskeletal system. The first part of the thesis focuses on the physiological postpartum period, anatomy and postpartum complications. In addition, I provide an overview of techniques that can be used in clinical practice. The second objective was to discover whether individual exercise during the postpartum period makes it easier for women to cope with postpartum changes, thereby having a positive influence on the course of the postpartum period. This was confirmed by the results of this work. Qualitative research techniques were used, including interviewing and observation techniques. The study group comprised 3 patients aged from 25 to 34 years old. The women were followed up during the entire postpartum period, which was free of any complications. The patients improved their breathing stereotypes and pelvic floor functions. All three women reported gradual improvement of their subjective feelings during treatment. Unfortunately, I learned that many women in the postpartum ward refuse/do not do any exercise. The rooming-in system, although the most beneficial for both mother and child, makes the physiotherapist´s work very difficult. It is very hard to coordinate the mother´s free time and the physiotherapist's time reserved for the postpartum ward. In my opinion, the best solution would be to begin education mothers during pregnancy, preferably during the prenatal courses. The expected practical use of this thesis is for the needs of physiotherapists as well as other healthcare professionals and women in the postpartum period.
