Possibilities of application of meta-talc
Fridrich, Jakub ; Ptáček, Petr (referee) ; Opravil, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is study of physical and chemical properties of metatalk. Metatalc is delaminated and dehydroxylated form of talc which was earlier prepared and described on FCH BUT in cooperation with MRC (Material Research Center). This thesis is part of the way to find suiting use for this newly found material and it takes on proposing forms of use. Tested attributes are particle size, particle surface, volumetric mass, sorption and cation exchange capacity.
Clay minerals in polymeric materials
Zaťko, Petr ; Sluková, Michaela (referee) ; Krmíček, Lukáš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the clay minerals as fillers in polymer materials and their polymer/clay nanocomposites. The thesis brings an introduction to the structure of polymers and clay minerals and their application in polymer materials. The practical part of the thesis deals with testing the diffusivity of CO2 through the film made of recycled polyvinyl butyral with fillers Nanofil®5, Dellite® 67 and Cloisite® 93A and their comparison with reference samples from recycled PVB without added fillers and commercial films of extruded PVB.

TiO2 pillared clay for photocatalytic purposes
Fiala, Michal ; Šoukal, František (referee) ; Ptáček, Petr (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis describes preparation of mixed catalytic systems kaolin/ TiO2 and metakaolin/ TiO2. Samples were prepared via hydrolysis of TiCl4 in kaolin suspension. Catalyst metakaolin/ TiO2 was prepared by calcination of this material under static oven atmosphere at 600 °C. Thermal analysis (simultaneous TG-DTA), infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and electron microscopy (REM) were used for samples characterization. Catalytic efficiency of mixture kaolin (Sedlec Ia) or metakaolin with TiO2 (anatase) was compared with pure kaolin. Experiment is based on oxidation of ethylalcohol, which was introduced in to reactor in flow of inert gas (argon). Amount of decomposed ethylalcohol is proportion to concentration of oxygen in gas product outputting from reactor. System kaolin/ TiO2 show higher catalytic performance than metakaolin/ TiO2 catalyst.
