Comparison of Select Characters in Czech and Russian Folk Fairy Tales

The bachelor's thesis aims to compare choice characters from Russian and Czech folk fairy tales. The theoretical part is dedicated to oral tradition, it defines fairy tale as one of the fundamental genres of oral tradition and studies its main characteristics. It explains the content and also the form of fairy tales and considers its cultural and social background. The practical part's goal is to compare specific characters from Czech and Russian stories and to describe their signature traits and tropes. Idiomatic equivalents in French and Czech context

The title of the bachelor thesis : Idiomatic equivalents in French and Czech context Key words : Folk literature, idioms, proverbs, comparisons, folk sayings, rhetorics, Czech- French analytic study The bachelor thesis called Idiomatic equivalents in French and Czech context is an analytic study of two languages - French and Czech. The main aim of this work is to find differences between French and Czech sayings. The thesis is divided into several thematically separated parts. A term folk literature will be introduced in the beginning and particular terms will be chosen for further examination. The thesis will deal with idioms, proverbs, folk sayings and comparisons, and their history, meaning and use in French and Czech language will be the object of this work. Another part of the thesis will be focused on categories close to idioms, such as maxims, sentences and rhetorics. In the end the author will try to find new forms of idioms. The goal of the thesis is a linguistic study, in which particular French and Czech idioms will be found and compared.

The Dual World in Fairy Tales of Jan Drda and Jan Werich

The aim of this work is to compare fairy tale collections České pohádky by Jan Drda and Fimfárum from the work of Jan Werich. First part describes the general development of fairy tale, characteristics of traditional folk fairy tale and characteristics of author's fairy tale. Subsequently, the thesis is focused on the magic fairy tale which is the closest type to the traditional folklore fairy tale. Emphasis is placed on particular attributes of folk fairy tale (uncertainty of place and time, magic formulas, magic numbers, etc.), which create a theoretical basis for the comparison of both fairy tale books. The actual comparison of the above-mentioned books is then in the final chapter, which describes in detail how both authors used the elements of folk fairy tale and how they modified and enriched them.

Folk verbal art in the context of ethnolinguistics and its function in teaching Czech as a second language

Subject of the Diploma is a use of folktexts in Czech courses for foreigners. An education material draft is being submitted, based on communication approach to language teaching, connects language and socialcultural dimension through. Submitted education material is a calendar like that defines four seasons in the Czech Republic through their attributes, i. e. their essential characteristics, in the folktexts included, and supported by the folktexts also explains appropriate rituals, feasts and concepts of the seasons. All texts and information of the education material draft are chosen or adapted with respect to communication needs of the foreign language students and in order to introduce concepts and knowledge of the Czech geography, culture and cultural history.
