Kindergarten in Brno

The bachelor thesis was prepared on the basic of an earlier study in the subject AG32. This bachelor’s thesis develops study further into the level Building permit documentation and Documentation for execution of the project. The main theme of this work is the Kindergarten in Brno. The proposed kindergarten is located in the city centre of Brno, on Údolní Street. The land is bordered by a frequented road from the north side and the park Obilní trh, on the south side of the land the relief gradually rises to Špilberk Castle. The main idea was to create a kindergarten object and an ideal space for children’s upbringing and movement. The shape of the building reacts to the surrounding area. On the north side is only the entrance to the building and the school’s operational base. The main room of the school (the games room and the dining room) opens to the south side into the garden which goes further into the slope. The west wing of the building is extended to the slope and the construction continues to the original terrain and it’s possible to cross to the slope of the roof of the building. Roof is designed as a vegetation roof. The overall appearance of the building is of a natural character. It’s made of a wooden facade vertical tile. Only at the entrance to the building and on the other side of the building near garden are designed colour rotating lamellas. Children can rotate with them and change the appearance of the building.

Perception of safety and danger in Jičín from the perspective of secondary school students

This bachelor thesis deals with the perception of safety and danger from the perspective of secondary school students. The goal of the study is to find out how safe students feel in their place of residence, in Jičín and in Czechia. It also focuses on the localization of safely and dangerously perceived places and finding out the reasons for the feeling of danger in these localities. The main method of data collection was a survey among secondary school students in Jičín and an interview with a local police officer and a crime prevention manager in Jičín. Considerable conformity was found between places that respondents do not perceive safely and locations identified by the local police officer as places of frequent police intervention. Reasons for the negative perception of places from the student perspective were shown in the survey. These reasons are mainly related to the social environment. Feeling of Safety and Fear of Crime in the Czech Republic

The research on feeling of safety and fear of crime abroad has been developed since 70s of the 20th century. In the Czech Republic it became of interest at the beginning of 90s after the fall of the communist regime, while the discrepancy between actually committed and formally registered offences resulting in the sharp increase of officially recorded crime manifested itself. In response to this increase there were written first scientific studies, which mainly dealt with the development of feeling of safety and models explaining such feeling in the context of former social problems (economic stress, trust in the government). In our opinion, however, we lack a comprehensive study that discusses the feeling of safety and fear of crime phenomenon from different aspects and intend to verify the validity of the results of international studies in our milieu. Based on the existing theoretical approaches and selected data sources, the study therefore aims to illuminate the structure of the relationship between fear of crime and individual or social factors that correlate with it. The study particularly deals with the relationship between perceived risk of victimization and fear of crime, i.e. concepts that were often used interchangeably at the beginning of research in this area.
