The role of nurse from physician perspective in pharmaceutical care

Introduction to the problem: Pharmacotherapy is a very complex and specific topic. Many of healthcare professionals, including nurses, are involved in pharmacotherapy management. Although this field is ensured by various legal standards, some competences of nurses are not clearly defined. The primary aim of this research was to analyse the current role of the nurse in pharmacotherapy out of a physician's perspective. Methodology: The data as a part of the multicentric project was collected in the form of semi- structured in-depth interviews with selected physicians also called key-informants. The obtained data were analysed by open coding followed by categorisation. Finally, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis was used to assess the opportunities and threats, which are related to determination of the ideal role of the nurse in drug administration. Results: Current practice shows that nurses are performing activities beyond their competences. Therefore, I consider legislative changes in this area appropriate. At many departments is not cooperation with the clinical pharmacist well established, moreover in some cases doctors are not interested in it. The main goal of this diploma thesis was to analyse continuing education after graduation used by selected members of the District Association of Pharmacists. Methods: Data for a practical part of this diploma thesis were collected by a questionnaire survey. A 39-item survey was administered to selected pharmacists (members in the Czech Chamber of Pharmacists) from randomly chosen the District Associations of Pharmacists. The address to access the survey was added in a recruitment letter. In this letter, the study was also described and was sent to 858 pharmacists through their e-mail addresses. The first mailing was sent after 7 days, the second mailing after 14 days. The respondents who filled in compulsory questions were included in the analysis. Descriptive statistics were used for analysing the results of the survey. Results: The survey of the 299 respondents...

PharmDr. Josef Malý, Ph.D. Consultant: PharmDr. Kateřina Malá, Ph.D. Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Introduction and Objective: Pharmacists are involved in providing of professional information about direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) treatment during DOAC dispensation to patients. Their attitudes and knowledge about DOAC treatment are therefore crucial for optimisation of pharmaceutical care of patients taking DOAC. The objective of this thesis was to analyze attitudes, experience, habits and opinions of pharmacists regarding the DOAC treatment. Methodology: Pharmacists from three District Pharmacists' Associations (OSL) were addressed to participate in an electronic anonymous questionnaire between March and May 2021. Questionnaire consisted of 32 items focusing on the frequency of DOAC dispensation, pharmacist self-confidence about DOAC, information provided to patients during DOAC dispensation, benefits and limits of DOAC treatment compared to treatment with warfarin, and patient adherence to DOAC treatment.
