Jakost vody vybraných rybníků v povodí toku Vydrica
Krajči, Filip
The diploma thesis is focused on the assessment of water quality in two successive ponds located on the Vydrica stream in the Malé Karpaty mountains. The analysis and subsequent assessment of water quality is based on field monitoring associated with the collection of samples and their subsequent analysis in the laboratory. The literary research deals with the assessment of water quality, the distribution of water, the distribution of protected landscape areas, but also the methods of management of ponds and the susitability of given ponds from the point of view of fish breeding. The literature review also contains a description of field monitoring indicators and laboratory determinations. The methodological part describes the principles of establishing field research and analysis of monitored water samples in the laboratory and the characteristics of sampling sites. The results obtained by field measurements and subsequent laboratory analysis were evaluated based on STN 75 7221 and Government Regulation No. 269/2010 Coll. After the evaluation, it was found that the water achieved the worst results, especially in the field of indicators reflecting organic pollution (BOD5, CHSKcr). Also, the content of elements such as total nitrogen and total phosphorus reached levels exceeding the limits of the worst class. These facts can further help in the management of the designated areas or in revitalization works in the vicinity, which are planned in the near future.
Zhodnocení vývoje jakosti vody vybraných toků v povodí vodárenské nádrže Švihov na řece Želivce
Markovcová, Zuzana
The bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of water quality in selected watercourses in the Švihov water reservoir catchment area and compares the results with those from the catchment area of the Lučický stream, which is located outside the Švihov reservoir catchment area. The first part of the thesis is devoted to a literature review addressing the issue of water pollution, eutrophication, pesticides, individual nutrients, and related legislative regulations. The second part of the bachelor thesis contains a brief characterization of the Švihov water reservoir catchment area and the Lučický stream catchment area, a description of the methodology, and the results of the evaluation of water quality in selected watercourses. The processed results from the Švihov reservoir catchment area and the Lučický stream catchment area were compared in terms of management in protective zones and outside of them. The obtained results were evaluated based on Czech Standard 75 7221 and Government Regulation No. 401/2015 Coll., as amended. The results demonstrated a clear correlation between flow rate and the amount of pollutants transported, with significantly lower transport rates recorded in dry years than in hydrologically average years. Regarding pesticides, it was found that the parent substance was only present in water immediately after application to agricultural land, while metabolites were found in both water and soil permanently. At the same time, relatively high concentrations of a pesticide metabolite that cannot be used today were also recorded.
Nutrient balance of the Rožmberk pond and its influence on the water quality of the Lužnice river
MONDEKOVÁ, Aneta
This diploma thesis deals with the nutrient balance of the Rožmberk pond for the years 2020-2021 and its impact on the river Lužnice. Due to the strongly eutrophic state of the pond caused by several polluting influences, such as insufficiently treated wastewater from the Třeboň WWTP or the outlet of wastewater from the R.A.B large pig farm, the Rožmberk pond was evaluated as the main source of phosphorus for the Orlík. The river Lužnice, flowing through Rožmberk, transports nutrient-rich water further to Orlík. Furthermore, this work is devoted to the study of sediments and phosphorus contained in it, as an internal source of phosphorus in the pond. The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the nutrient balance for the mentioned years and compare with previous years of balance monitoring to the current situation in Rožmberk. The last calculation of the substance balance was in 2014, and therefore it is important to find out what the current situation on the pond is. Data for the purposes of this work were obtained by regular, balance monitoring of the state enterprise Vltava River Basin within 14-day intervals. Based on the results obtained by this work, when the pond showed negative retention, i.e., more phosphorus flowed out than it reached the pond with tributaries, it can be stated that the Rožmberk pond is a significant player influencing water quality in the Lužnice river basin. Internal processes are applied in the pond, when the pond copes with the old ecological burden, due to the significant amount of phosphorus stored in the sediment. Rožmberk pond shows that material balances are indispensable for determining the actual conditions in ponds. We cannot do without this information about the proposed measures to improve the quality of water in ponds.
Současný stav kvality vody v rybnících
BENEDIKT, Adam
Monitoring the quality of water in a pond in connection with fisheries management did not begin to gain importance until the end of the 20th century. Since then, numerous studies have been conducted on this topic. Currently, the most significant problem affecting not only the fishing companies is the eutrophication and its impact on the function of a pond and the surrounding landscape (including biodiversity and the overall impact of eutrophication on the environment). Anthropogenic activity (e.g., fish farming, wastewater, and agriculture) leads to an excessive release of mineral nutrients, predominately phosphorus and nitrogen, into open waters. This bachelor thesis compares the data obtained from measurements from the year 2017 with data from the 1950s. until 2014 as documented in the written records. The actual data represent the basic physicochemical parameters of water (i.e., temperature, O2 concentration, pH, conductivity and ORP, TN, NH4-N, NO3-N, TP, DRP, TOC, and chlorophyll-a). The evaluation is based on a collection of data from six ponds in the vicinity of České Budějovice (Beranov, Roubíček, Zběhov, Posměch, Kvítkovice, and Dehtář) with a representation of production and fry tanks.
Dynamics of organic carbon in the ponds ecosystems
TOMKOVÁ, Iva
Ponds ecosystems are the most common type of lentic waterbodies in Czech Republic. In the last century, the quality of ponds water has been greatly influenced by intensive management in the catchment and ponds alone. As a result of the increasing concentration of nutrients, ponds lead to eutrophication. This is expressed as extensive primary production of phytoplankton and algal blooms. Decomposition of the accumulated organic matter affects the oxygen regime, pH and distribution of nutrients in the pond. Organic matter plays a key role in physical, chemical and biological processes in the ecosystem. The aim of the work was to describe the dynamics of organic carbon in the eutrophic ponds ecosystem with emphasis on its dissolved part (DOC). This study included evaluation of DOC concentration from 6 pond systems in the Třeboň region from 2010 to 2011 and a comparison with DOC concentrations from 2020. The relationship of DOC concentration to other chemical parameters of water was evaluated. It found that DOC concentration had no significant correlation with other parameters. The concentration of nutrients TN and TP had decreased over the last 10 years, while DOC concentration had increased. More detailed data from 5 ponds from 2008 to 2011 were evaluated in the same way. Optical methods such as absorbance and fluorescence were used to describe DOC dynamics. These methods were used to monitor 10 ponds from Třeboň and České Budějovice regions in 2017?2018. Data were compared between these regions because they differed in conductivity, but it had no differences in DOC concentration and other chemical parameters. The average value of DOC concentration was 14,8 mg l-1. The absorption characteristics of DOM such as spectral slope S275-295 and slope ratio SR suggested an autochthonous source of DOM. Specific absorbance values at 254 nm SUVA254 ranged from 1,4?3,0 l mgC-1 m-1 and indicates autochthonous substances with lower molecular weight and lower content of aromatics. SUVA254 values were higher in the Třeboň region, which indicates that there was a more allochthonous DOM with higher molecular weight and more aromatics in DOM in contrast to the České Budějovice region. Evaluation of seasonal changes in the composition of DOM using optical methods revealed that in the summer there were more autochthonous substances with lower molecular weight and lower aromatics DOM. SR values were negatively correlated to molecular weight and were higher in summer. FI and BIX values indicating autochthonous and microbial source DOM increased in summer. Optical methods were used for the first time to monitor the dynamics of organic matter in ponds.
Photosynthetic activity of phytoplankton in eutrophic waters
TESAŘOVÁ, Blanka
Photosynthesis was measured in several natural populations and cultivated strains of cyanobacteria. In the natural fishpond phytoplankton species of the Microcystis genus and small {$\mu$}-cyanobakteria were dominated. Anabaena mendotae and Anabaena lemmermannii, different cultivated strains were selected for photosynthesis measurements. Photosynthesis was estimated as an oxygen evolution in Illuminova (Sweden AB) light pippeting system. During the experiment the oxygen concentration, temperature and photon flux density were detected automatically and registered in computer. Results were evaluated as Photosynthesis-Irradiance (P-I) response curves. Altogether 13 experiments were performed. In the natural cyanobacterial populations as well as in the cultivated strains the results confirmed high efficiency of photosynthesis in low irradiances. In some natural waterbloom-forming populations of Microcystis the results demonstrated also the high photosynthetic performace in high irradiances. It is evident that these cyanobacteria are able to avoid damage to the photosynthetic apparatus in photooxidative conditions. These findings probably reflect the mechanism by which cyanobacteria outcompete chlorococcal algae in the shallow eutrophic water bodies.
