Importance of esperanto for the emancipation of the visually impaired

The main objective of bachelor thesis is description of history of Esperanto movement among the visually impaired with intend to the Czech lands and also finding out what is the benefit of Esperanto for the visually impaired in the present. The work is divided into two parts. The first part describes the major historical development of care for the visually impaired and the importance of Esperanto in it. The first chapter describes the creation of Esperanto and its spread around the world. The next chapter provides insight into the cultural and educational situation of Czech blinds when the Esperanto coming and it describes their first contact with this language. The third chapter deals with Charles Emanuel Macan and its benefits for Czech and world Esperanto movement of blinds, his followers and influenced by the fact that this movement exists to the present. The second part describes the research conducted by questionnaire. It takes on task to collect information how the Czech and foreign blinds are using the possibilities of Esperanto and what has meaning for their lives.
