The principle of sustainable development and its application in India

This bachelor's thesis focuses on describing Indian approach to sustainable development. It starts with a description of the whole concept of sustainable development in general and then it deals with the history of this approach in India and local situation in the field of environment. It describes Indian cooperation with other countries and international organizations as well as local documents concerning this issue. It analyses particular indexes which allow us to evaluate Indian approach to sustainable development. Based on these indexes, it describes the effort of India to increase sustainability and evaluates its success. Last part is dedicated to description of chosen indicators, values of which are very important in terms of Indian transition to sustainable development. These indicators represent serious problems in current India and thus dealing with values of these indicators should be India's priority for future.
