Energy policy of the EU - Nuclear power in Europe
Kovácsik, Miroslav ; Žamberský, Pavel (advisor) ; Vošta, Milan (referee)
The events of the recent past in the energy department in Europe have shown how big is it's dependency on import of the primary energy resources. In the long run it is obvious that a high dependency on import of resources with the increasing demand of the population will not be able to provide Europe with so much needed easy accessible and reasonably priced energy. The integration process in Europe lasts more than fifty years now but energy policy is even after the ratification of the Lisbon treaty in controll of the national parlaments of member countries. Even though the options and posibilitie of the countries differ in the long run a closer cooperation is mandatory. The thesis is about the united energy policy in Europe and the development it went through since the beginning of the integration process in the fifties of last century. I will describe the main events that formed it as well as the main resources of energy production in the EU. I will explain the term energy security and in the end I will write about nuclear power that is today a vary efficient but after the events of Fukushima also controversial alternative of energy independence.
Energy policy of the EU and CR in connection to Russia
Cimbálová, Pavlína ; Abrhám, Josef (advisor) ; Vitík, Matyáš (referee)
Present energy situation of the European Union is becoming to be more problematic. At the time when worldwide reserves of primary energy sources -- oil and natural gas -- continue to decrease, most of the EU member states are getting dependent on the imports of energy from foreign sources. One of the main impulses to discussion about new Energy policy of the EU in terms of security of energy supplies was a natural gas crisis between Russia and the Ukraine from January 2009. Russia represents one of the main energy partner of the EU -- it imports majority of oil and natural gas to the european countries. However, energy dependency rate of some of the central and eastern european states on imports of energy sources from Russia arouses concerns. The solution for the European Union proposes diversification of the suppliers aimed to increase energy independence on Russia. Also alternative energy sources or rebirth of nuclear energy can lead to the one-way dependence of the EU on imports of fossil fuels from Russia.

Kopová, Petra ; Bič, Josef (advisor) ; Horák, Jiří (referee)
The need to ensure that reliable, affordable and sustainable energy is a clear priority in building a powerful and strong economy. Therefore energy security has gradually become an integral part of the economic and foreign policies of the European Union and the United States of America. Although this concept did not exist ten years ago, energy security has rapidly risen in importance in the last decade. Both the USA and the EU have implemented energy issues as one of the pillars of their national security. The first chapter of this paper addresses the definition of energy security and characterizes its particular subsystems. The second part is devoted to real security in terms of the first and the second subsystem (the securing of energy resources, and the transport and transformation of energy resources). The final chapter briefly defines the energy policies of the European Union and the United States and compares approaches to ensuring the energy security of both regions. The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to identify and clarify the similarities or potential differences between these two approaches.

Energy volatility of the world economy and its impact on energy security of the Czech Republic
Kopecký, Jan ; Bič, Josef (advisor) ; Vondrušková, Barbora (referee)
Sustainable development of the human society is continuously dependent on energy resources. On one side, demand of energy resources still grows while, on the other hand, the availability of energy resources decreases. It is not determined only by decreasing reserves of non-renewable resources but also by other factors - economic, ecologic, technologic and by politics because possession of energy resources helps to strenghten economic power and makes it easier to enforce one's political interests. Thus it is crucial to be concerned with energy volatility of Europe (as a region) since solving this issue in Europe is directly connected with the Czech Republic which cannot deal with its energy volatility in an isolation on a national level.
