Historical Topographic Database of Luční bouda and Surroundings Based on Early Maps and Ortohphotos
Chytilová, Barbora ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Suchá, Renáta (referee)
HISTORICAL TOPOGRAPHIC DATABASE OF LUČNÍ BOUDA AND SURROUDINGS BASED ON EARLY MAPS AND ORTOHPHOTOS Abstract The bachelor thesis aims to creating the digital topographic database of the Luční Bouda region in Krkonoše capturing its development in time. The database contains early maps and orthophotos data taken within the area. Among crucial archival spatial data covered, in the database we can count maps of Stabilní katastr, III. military mapping, aerial snapshots from 1936, Map of the Czechoslovakia from 1937, Map of State in scale 1 : 5 000 as well as orthophotos taken in year 1953 and later on. The theoretical part of the thesis includes introducing the area of interest, hictorical cartography, actual data and theoretical information involving digital topographic database creation with time constituant. The research deals with project itself followed by procedure of filling the database with data. The conclusion involves brief discussion on the development of the area in time. Key words Luční bouda, Krkonoše, digital topographic database, early maps, orthophotos
Analysis of the celestial maps
Považan, Juraj ; Bayer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Čábelka, Miroslav (referee)
Analysis of the spheric map Abstract The master thesis deals with cartometric analysis of maps of the celestial sphere using image correlation. The main goal of this work was to design an algorithm for the identification of stars on old maps of the starry sky using a normalized cross-correlation and the application of a median and Gaussian filter. The analysis itself takes place on small scale maps or. the whole visible sky divided into two hemispheres, shown in a stereographic projection and also takes into account the influence of the cartographic map display on the position of objects, which it tries to eliminate by Helmert transformation, and also the influence of precession, which affects the position of astronomical objects over time. The accuracy of the drawing of the positions of the objects is evaluated by means of isolines drawn on the basis of positional coordinates. The algorithm was implemented in the Matlab programming environment and old maps from the Mapová sbírka PřF and the 5th edition of Bright Star Cataloque were used as test data, which contains the positions of stars with precisely determined coordinates. The achieved results are presented in the form of images of captured objects and created isolines over old maps as well as tables of the three nearest neighbors of the most important...
Analysis of the map projection of maps in 17th century
Považan, Juraj ; Bayer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Buchar, Petr (referee)
Analysis of the map projection of world maprs in the 17th century Abstract Bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of map projections and the estimation of their parameters (i.e, the constant values of projections) of early maps from the 17th century. The aim of the thesis is to find and evaluate the most commonly used projections for the planisphere, hemispheres and large territories. The introduction is focused on the development of map projections throughout history and their general classification, together with the overview of specific projections well known within the 17th century. A general description of the projection analysis methodology that was practically implemented in the software detectproj, is presented. The research part includes a detailed description and summarization of the results of analysis of the selected maps divided into several categories (according to the extent of the mapped area). Finally, the projections used and their parameters across each category together with the short explanation are summarized. Keywords: analysis, map projection detection, history of cartography, cartographic projection, criteria, mathematical cartography, detection parameters, early maps.
Analysis of the vastness of castles and their depiction on early maps
Gottstein, Otomar ; Bayer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Čábelka, Miroslav (referee)
Analysis of the vastness of castles and their depiction on early maps Abstract The bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of the vastness of the 21 biggest castles in the Czech Republic and their depiction on selected early maps of Bohemia and Moravia. For the purpose of analysis of the vastness there are defined geometric criteria in the thesis. These criteria take account of both the overall layout of the castle complex and the individual elements of the castle layout. All of these criteria are also applicable to all analysed castles. The analysis of vastness is realized with ArcGIS software; main source of data are geodetic plans from National Heritage Institute, additional data sources include Orthophoto CR and Digital Terrain Model 5th Generation. The numerical results of the partial criteria, presented in the results of the work, make it possible to determine the largest castle in our country or the castle with the biggest area according to individual elements of the castle layout. The analysis of depiction of castles on early maps is focused on the development of the cartographic symbol used for representation of these objects, the frequency of castles and used nomeclature in selected maps. Another part of this analysis is a cartometric analysis evaluating the accuracy of the depiction of...
