Supporting the development of communication skills of primary school pupils with developmental dysphasia

This thesis focuses on supporting the development of communication skills in pupils with developmental dysphasia at primary school level 1. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the definition of developmental dysphasia, its symptoms, diagnosis and possibilities of intervention. The aim of the research was to observe the individual progress of three boys with dysphasia in the areas of coherently spoken text, involvement in collective activities, emotional expression, fine and gross motor skills, concentration, memory and the ability to discriminate auditory and visual stimuli. The research was conducted using qualitative case studies, document analysis, teacher interviews and observations of pupils in real school settings. The results suggest that individual work and a differentiated approach to teaching can positively influence the development of communication skills in pupils with dysphasia. The knowledge gained is relevant for teachers and experts in the field of special education when working with pupils with communication disorders and when creating an inclusive environment in schools. Diagnosis of laterality in the school environment

This bachelor thesis contains theoretical principals of expressions of the dominance of the brain hemispheres - laterality. It solves the development of laterality, its genotype and phenotype, levels, laterality types and species, refers to the educational consequences of the improper educational influence on genotype laterality and subsequent corrections. It also deals with the diagnosis of laterality, especially from a position of a teacher. The basic idea of this work is to support the natural development of a child through appropriate laterality effects on the child, specifically a student diagnosed with dysphasia.

Communication competencies of students with speech impediments.

This diploma thesis focuses on the communication competence of young learners with speech impediments. The theoretical part describes the development of young learners at primary school, speech ontogenesis from the child´s birth to their entering the first class. Then there is also analyzed communication and related communicative competence. Another section focuses on speech disorders, their classification. It is important to mention the prevention of speech therapy and the subsequent development of communication skills. The practical part is focused on research to determine the influence of defects on the level of speech communication skills of young pupils. This section is based on information obtained through interviews with teachers and five selected students´ parents at the basic school of speech therapy and the analysis of governesses and teachers´ diaries. The resulting data is recorded in case reports, tables and graphs.
