Determining factors of czech foreign trade: a cross-section time series perspective
Benáček, Vladimír ; Podpiera, Jiří ; Prokop, Ladislav
By quantifying the determining factors of Czech trade during 1993–2002, this paper enriches the empirical trade literature with evidence from an economy that has undergone intensive structural changes. Writer's findings lend ignificance to standard macroeconomic variables such as aggregate demand and the real exchange rate. Apart from these, however, liberalisation of tariffs, the evolution of unit prices of exports and imports, and economies of scale also played a significant role. An out-of-sample forecast for the trade balance was carried out for 2003–2004.

Determining Factors of the Czech Foreign Trade Balance: Structural Issues in Trade Creation
Benáček, Vladimír ; Prokop, Ladislav ; Víšek, Jan Á.
Using panel data for 29 industries, the study tests alternative specifications of Czech export and import functions. The balance of trade is primarily influenced by the real exchange rate, aggregate demand and tariff changes. Reduced growth of the Czech economy after 1996 was an important factor that has kept the balance of trade at a sustainable level in the medium-term, contributing even to the appreciation of the real exchange rate.

Because these products are chemical based, trading with them is thus stricktly regulated and controlled. This thesis provides clear and comprehensible procedure for application for authorizing a parallel import and as such represents a practical guideline for a potencial dealer/importer with a theoretical insight of the problem.
The econometric analysis of demand function for sugar imports to the CR in 1996-2010
Dvořáková, Lucie ; Dočkal, Dalibor (advisor) ; Řežábek, Pavel (referee)
At the turn of the 19th and 20th century, the Czech countries could boast a flourishing sugar industry. The share of the Czech countries in the European sugar exports reached to 57%. However, over time this important position on the sugar market have disappeared, and demand for imports of this commodity in the Czech Republic started to grow. The goal of this paper is to analyse the demand function for sugar import in the years 1996-2010, try to find factors that it could effect in the chosen period of time and determine their intensity. The method of examination is to set up a simple model and the subsequent implementation of regression and correlation analysis to determine the level of dependence of demand functions on individual factors. The conclusion summarizes the partial results of the analysis and proposes other possible variables that could be incorporated into the model.
Trade in endangered species of birds protected by CITES in CR in relation to third countries
JURDÁKOVÁ, Jiřina

It was found, that the trend of import of specimens and species to CR during that period was slightly declining, since 2006 is very low. While the trend of export of specimens and species was slightly increasing. The main imported species during the survey period were Poicephalus senegalus, Psittacus erithacus, Amazona amazonica.
