The evolution of the relationship between child and volunteer in Program Five P
NOHEJLOVÁ, Pavla
The issue of the child {--} volunteer relation development in the Five Ps Programme is a really sensitive one. No research dealing with the child {--} volunteer relation development has been performed yet in the Czech Republic. The child {--} volunteer relation development research is based on mapping changes within the eight dimensions of a relation as per Hinde´s theory (1988). The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the Five Ps programme itself, its brief history, handicaps and benefits. The theoretical part also deals with relations in general and the relation child {--} volunteer in the Five P programme and its development. The thesis is aimed at mapping the child {--} volunteer relation development in the Five Ps programme upon changes in the above eight relation dimensions. The practical part employed the questioning method, the technique of structured interview with open questions, the method of participant observation and document analyses. The research sample consisted of 15 respondents (5 volunteers, 5 children, 5 legitimate representatives of the children). The survey was performed at the regional Five P Programme Centre in Písek. The results of the work consist of analyses of interview with the volunteers, children and legitimate representatives after three months and after ten months of a relation, then observation of each couple during common activities, analyses of supervision records and meeting minutes. Two hypotheses arose from the results. The first is: The child {--} volunteer relation in the Five P programme develops in eight dimensions as per Hinde´s theory (1988). The other hypothesis is: Each child {--} volunteer relation in the Five Ps programme develops differently. The thesis also includes practical recommendations, particularly to beginning Five Ps coordinators. These recommendations present examples of questions by which changes in the individual relationship dimensions may be monitored and the relationship development better observed. The thesis may be useful either for beginning coordinators in the Five Ps programme or for those having longer experience in coordinating the couples in the programme.

Voluntary activities of the Diocese Charity in České Budějovice seen from the clients´ point of view
KOŽANTOVÁ, Miroslava
The topic of my thesis are voluntary activities of the Diocese Charity in České Budějovice seen from the clients´point of view. Voluntary work is not a new phenomenon in a human society. In each culture and society those, who were better off, helped to the less happy, who, due to an illness, poverty or a natural disater, needed help. The objective of the thesis was to find out, what are the demands of clients of the Diocese Charity on volunteers and how these clients evaluate the volunteers´ work. The theoretic part of the thesis deals with the explanation of the terms such as a volunteer, volunteer activities, volunteer service, charity. Furter on, the activities of the Diocese Charity of České Budějovice and of its Volunteer Centre are described, together with its development and programmes. To carry out the practical part, a qualitative research, the polling method, the technique of a half - standardized interview have been applied. The first group of the polled were the coordinators of the volunteers in the institutions using higher number of volunteers for the clients´ services. The other group involved people, who regularly meet a volunteer. These are people suffering from psychic disorders or mentally handicapped people, and the elderly. As a whole, 4 coordinators and 13 clients in four institutions were polled. Even though the volunteers visit other clients as well, not all, considering their state of health or the stage of disability, were able to answer the questions independently, or they declined to take part in the research at all. The results of the research showed that the work of a volunteer is evaluated positively by all the respondents. They value mainly the fact, that there is a person coming to see them, somebody, they can talk to, go for a walk with, go to the theatre or to the cinema with, go shopping. Simply, they can go with a volunteer there, where they cannot go without his attendance. They also appreciate, that the volunteer comes to them, teach them something or helps. From their point of view, a volunteer should be nice and kind, friendly, honest, talkative and should be able and willing to help and try hard to meet the wishes of the client. The coordinators of the volunteers also see the importance of the volunteer work not only for their clients but also for the institutions themselves, since the volunteers´ work helps to improve the level of the social care, to fulfil the leisure time of the clients and to establish new friendly relationships. The results of my thesis will be used by the Volunteer Centre of the Diocese Charity in České Budějovice, where it could help to choose the right volunteers on the basis of the most frequent demands of clients, as it was found out during the research. At the same time the thesis might be seen as an appraisal and acknowledgment of present volunteers expressed by the clients, and also as an inspiration for volunteers to be.
The importance of training of volunteers in the health and social sphere
PECHKOVÁ, Šárka
Volunteers are being integrated in all spheres of human activities. The most widespread area where the volunteers can operate is health social sphere. Voluntary activity in this area is very demanding and that is why the professional approach is necessary. Its part is also a volunteer training. This training is used for the volunteers to strengthen their motivation and understanding their role in the voluntary program. Thanks to this voluntary training future misunderstanding among volunteer, client and organization is prevented. Theoretical part is focused on clarification of some basic concepts from volunteering area. It also tries to scan volunteer programs from the training point of view and to outline common schematics of training. The purpose of this work is to quantitatively evaluate importance of volunteer trainings for voluntary activity in different voluntary programmes. The following collecting data methods were used for quantitative research: controlled interview and questionnaire. Volunteers and co-ordinators of voluntary programmes were included into the investigated group. From the collected data it is obvious that co-ordinators of voluntary programmes consider voluntary training necessary for practising voluntary activity. They also think that the biggest contribution of volunteer training is practical training of necessary skills. Another profit is that the training helps volunteers to practise voluntary activity on high level. Training motivates trainees to become volunteers and at the same time it declines fear and uncertainty of volunteers from voluntary activities. The thesis will be offered to National voluntary centre Hestia in Prague that may use it as a basis for creation of integrated philosophy of volunteer training.
