The Distribution Mapping Functions
Jiřina, Marcel
The target of this study is to make clear the difference of the distribution mapping function introduced in 2003 and the classical notion of point processes theory, the counting function N, Ripley’s K-function, and other two distance functions, F and G-functions. We summarize here necessary starting points from the point process theory using the famous work by Baddeley, a two-volume book of Daley and Vere-Jones and short paper by Dixon. When dealing with the distribution mapping function we use up-to-date formulations used in various papers since 2003.

Influence of Metric on Classification Error of Distance-Based Classifiers
Jiřina, Marcel
Five types of classifiers that use sample distances for class estimation of an unknown sample was tested. Each classifier was tested with fifteen different metrics on 24 classification tasks from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. The metrics were compared and the best of them was found for each classifier. Surprisingly, the best metrics for all five types of classifiers is the Hassanat metrics. Classifiers were also compared and ranked according to their classification ability. Wilcoxon Test and Friedman Aligned test were used for statistical evaluation.

Psychical Distance and Laughter at the Theatre
VAŠÁKOVÁ, Martina
The present BA thesis is focused on the exploration of the role of laughter and comicality within Dramatic Arts. The starting point is explanation of the concept of Edward Bullough's "psychical distance" as a factor, which defines aesthetic attitude. The laughter is described there as the type of reaction, that tend to under-distancing or to over-distancing and so to a disruption of aesthetic attitude. At the same time, however, whole significant section of Dramatic Art comedy works intensively with the role of laughter . BA thesis attempts to indicate main features of laughter and its transformation within the aesthetic attitude.
Metric problems in the solid geometry
KREPSOVÁ, Lenka
This thesis deals with metric problems in the solid geometry and it is divided into two parts. The first part is focused on the theory of the angular deflection of lines and planes, perpendicularity of lines and planes and the distance of points, lines and planes. This part consists of a summary of theorems and definitions as well as basic examples for explanation. The second part contains a collection of worksheets for students. This collection includes some solutions to the examples from the worksheets in the mathematic software GeoGebra. The solutions are intended for teachers. The worksheets and their solutions were tested by students during the tuition in the last year of the grammar school. This thesis can be used in tuition, self-studying and testing.
Efficiency of sports betting markets: are betting odds of KHL biased according to distance?
Matoušek, Roman ; Lahvička, Jiří (advisor) ; Svoboda, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis examines, if Continental hockey league betting market is efficient and if betting odds are biased according to distance (up to 7500 km). Research is based on 2700 matches between 2008-2012 and odds set by 5 Czech betting companies. Market inefficiency was not found by statistical tests. There was found by using regression analysis that bettors overestimate home teams with respect to distance that visiting team's fans have to travel. It is significant only at 10% significance level. Then there was carried out a simulation of betting on various strategies and there was found the least losing strategy at betting on away teams, which travel more than 1497 km. At this strategy, there is an average return 0,97 CZK inset 1 CZK. Weak form of efficiency cannot be rejected.
Methods of the Distance Management in different countries
Arginova, Laura ; Potluka, Oto (advisor) ; Müllerová, Jana (referee)
The bachelor thesis is comparing the methods of distance management in two similar companies that have significant difference in the sizes of turnovers. One of the companies is located in Kazakhstan, the second is in Prague. The main question of the thesis is if the difference of turnovers is caused by methods of management or by other factors. The aim of this thesis is to determine effective methods of distance managing for a company with the less turnover. The multicriterial decision making method TOPSIS is used for analysis of effective methods. A key aspect of the analysis is to measure the contribution of each method for increasing the efficiency of management in companies.
Distance, Experience and Aesthetic Object
VÁCHOVÁ, Radka
The main hypothesis of this bachelor thesis is a defense of formation of the ?distance? ? which works as stimulus for aesthetic experience ? by means of which, the author tries to explain the specific characteristic of the ?aesthetic reception? as the main topic of the work. Basic source materials for this paper a study by Edward Bullough 'Psychical Distance' as a Factor in Art and an Aesthetic Principle and § 24/ by Roman Ingarden Aesthetis experience and aesthetic object.
Aesthetic Distance and Theatre
LOUKOTOVÁ, Veronika
The basic topic of the Bachelor Thesis Aesthetic Distance and Theatre is the explanation of basic characteristics of ?psychical distance? as described in ?Psychical Distance? as a Factor in Art and as an Aesthetic Principle by Edward Bullough. At first, the thesis deals with the distance in general, explains Edward Bullough?s terminology ? the conception of distance, the conception of ?psychical distance?, and the antinomy and variability of distance. Then it concentrates specifically on distance in the art and tries to demonstrate the facts obtained by examples in individual kinds of art. The thesis also contemplates the distance as an aesthetic principle whereby the problems of the ?beautiful? and the ?pleasant? can be explained in aesthetics. Further, this Bachelor Thesis aims at the distance in artistic creation and tries to describe it in one selected kind of art ? the art of drama. The aim of the thesis is to prove that there are several theories of acting, which are extremely different in opinion of distance of actor. The thesis, in concord with the facts gained from Edward Bullough?s text, leans to the theory which is near to the two noted theoreticians of art ? Denis Diderot and Bertolt Brecht. The thesis also aims to give a true picture of their innovative thoughts and views concerning theatre.
Aesthetic Distance in Music and its Manifestations
PROCHÁZKA, Jan
In this work, I will be engaged in aesthetic reception and perception of artistic and also non-artistic objects, which main or ulterior contens is music. Main focus of the work will be observation of transformation of aesthetic distance of subject in dependence on particular types and tendencies of music and their activities and on inner dispositions of subject, too. I will try to differentiate elementary types of music in consonance with considerations of their inner distance and sketch historical origin and evolution of their forms, too. Fundamental task is answer the question, if there is threat of lack of distance in music of modern time in general caused by under-distance or over-distance. As the source, I will use the work of Edward Bullough {\clqq}Psychical distance`` as a factor in art and aesthetic principle.
