Learning styles of future Biology teachers and scientists

The diploma thesis deals with the topic of learning styles. The literature review describes the teaching and its conceptions, it works with the term of the teaching methods. The literature review characterizes teaching methods mostly used in biology education. Furthermore, the literature review explains the learning process, the approaches to learning, strategies, and tactics of learning. In the next part, the literature review deals with the learning styles and their classification according to the well-known authors. The last section of the literature review describes the diagnostics of the learning styles and methods that are used for detecting the learning styles. The results summarize the findings of a research study focused on the learning styles of university students. The research dataset consists of 187 cases that reflect the differences in the preferences of learning styles of future scientists and biology teachers and the relationship between a particular learning style and the favourite teaching method that students encountered at primary or secondary school. Furthermore, there were founded out the differences in the preferences of teaching methods and identified the reasons that had led the respondents to study science (biological) disciplines.
Preference comparison of the learning styles between secondary school and university students in the field of economics

The thesis deals with the issues of learning styles of secondary and university students. In the theoretical part, the problems of thinking, individual-specific ways of learning, individual-specific learning methods and learning styles are outlined. The diploma thesis focuses on learning styles, which are defined and divided from different points of view. Thesis also includes the diagnostics of learning styles, the influence of learning styles and, among other things, the motivation that is important in learning. The theoretical part is consists of research of professional literature, scientific articles and current researches from the area. The practical part consists of questionnaire survey, which took place at several secondary schools and universities. The LSI questionnaire and the VARK questionnaire were used to find out the student's learning styles from the research sample, the results obtained from the two questionnaires were compared between each other, from which conclusions were drawn. The survey results are evaluated by descriptive statistics and captured in charts and tables.

The thesis deals with issues relating to the learning styles of the students in gardening high school and at the gymnasium. The theoretical part is based on the available Czech and foreign literature. It explains concepts such as student in high school, learning, learning style and analyzes different types of learning styles. It deals with the diagnosis of learning styles and their effect, presents possible factors influencing the efficiency of learning. The research is based on the questionnaire survey and is divided into three parts. The first part of diagnosing learning styles of pupils from both schools. The second part focuses on differences in learning styles of students studying high school and middle school gardening and the third part of the effort to determine gender differences in learning styles preferences. For the data analysis was elected a commercially available program MS ExcelTM, and evaluations were applied by methods of descriptive statistics. In the discussion, the author confronts the obtained results with the results of other authors. Based on the findings the author proposes advices, how to make the studium more effective and presents recommendations to the teachers.
