Jiri Trnka's Scenography in the National Theatre

Jiri Trnka (1912 - 1969) ranks among the foremost representatives of Czech modern art in the 20th century and alongside the most remarkable protagonists of the visual art scene over a period ranging from the late 1930s through the end of the1960s. He stood out within that movement for his multiple talents, as a draughtsman, book illustrator, puppet designer, painter, animated film-maker, sculptor and stage designer. He achieved admirable success in these fields of activity. In the early 40s a new prospect opened up for him connected with work in theatre, as he took up the post of stage designer at the National Theatre in Prague, an assignment which enabled him to put to use his specific talent for stagecraft. He created 13 stage decorations together. Trnka was able to create unforgettable productions thanks the cooperation with Jiri Frejka or Karel Dostal. I documented and explained Trnka's work in the context of the Nation Theatre during the Second World War. I defined his style in the relation to his contemporaries in the end of work. Firearms in the Middle East. Beginnings, Production and Use.

This thesis deals with the development of the hand-held firearms in the Middle East with an emphasis on the period from the 15th to the end of the 18th century. In some passages it also marginally mentions the early 19th century. The first part of the thesis concentrates on the development of firearms in a historical context. The focus is primarily on the Ottoman Empire and partially on Egypt. Among other topics it also analyses the practical use of firearms and the related military tactics including the presence of firearms in major battles, as shown on contemporary paintings and miniatures. In the second part the author deals with the technical development of hand-held firearms. This section focuses mostly on the components of firearms and their development. This section also in some degree deals with the artistic aspects of the preserved firearms. The supplements consist of numerous photographs of the preserved exhibits in Czech and foreign collections and also of other visual materials. This Bachelor`s thesis is a business plan of the event agency. It consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. Theoretical part is based on theory from books and other re-sources. In theoretical part there are some definitions about entrepreneurship, business plan and some strategic analyses tools. In addition, it includes the history of entrepre-neurship in Kazakhstan. Practical part is focused on creation the business plan. It in-volves some external and internal analyses, marketing strategy and financial plan. Based on this business plan it should be evaluate if the business is profitable or not.

The Meaning of Scenography in Children´s Theatre

This diploma thesis presents a theoretical contemplation of scenography in children´s theatre supported by examples from the author´s own experience. It confirms scenography to be closely connected with the dramaturgical and directorial part of the whole creative process and to be a full-valued component of every single inscenation´s preparation. The work analyses the theatre space, mutual relations between the stage and the front, particular scenographic elements and the objective factors that influence creation of stage setting in children´s theatre. The thesis shows that the most determining of these are the specific characteristics of the children´s group and the personality of their teacher or leader. It also examines how technical as well as material conditions affect the choice and creation of stage setting. This diploma paper comes to the conclusion that limited conditions may obstacle the way to a theatre performance and mainly its scenography, but in the end they represent a challenge to search for creative solutions.
