Comparison of regulation and supervision of financial systems in the US and the EU

The master thesis deals with the issue of the development of regulation and supervision of the financial systems in the US and the EU. The thesis is primarily focused on the regulatory and supervisory bodies and the area of capital adequacy in both, the US and the EU and changes in these areas in response to the global financial crisis. In order to meet the theses objectives the thesis is divided into three chapters, which are logically and chronologically connected. The first chapter covers the period before the financial crisis. This chapter analyzes American and European system of regulation and supervision in the period before the crisis, as well as Basel I and Basel II and the reaction of the US and the EU on these agreements. The second chapter focuses on the period of the financial crisis. Chapter analyzes the causes that led to this crisis and also its actual progress. Next section of the second chapter analyzes the US and the EU response to the crisis and the steps which the US and the EU have taken in an effort to save their financial systems. The last chapter covers the post-crisis period. This chapter is devoted mainly to the new concept Basel III and its implementation in the US and the EU. The conclusion of the thesis will be devoted to an overall summary and to comparison of obtained information.
The Regulation Of The Banking Sector in The EU Due To Economic Crisis

This thesis aims to analyze and evaluate changes in bank regulation prepared in the European Union. It focuses primarily on the imperfections of the existing regulatory system, which occurred in relation to the financial crisis, and on efforts of EU leaders to eliminate such imperfections. The first section defines the general reasons for bank regulation and supervision, describes the specifics of the banking sector and summarizes the pre-crisis situation in the EU. The second part analyzes the most important reasons for the financial crisis and the causes of its rapid expansion from U.S. to European markets. The third block deals with the final response in the form proposed by the EU and the concrete measures taken with regard to banking regulation and supervision on the territory of all EU Member States.
Changes in Supervision of Financial Market

The bachelor thesis deals with the institutional organisation of the financial supervision of the European financial market. The thesis is focused on the European Commission's proposals of the year 2009 for strengthening supervision by establishment of new all-European supervisory authorities. The point of this thesis is not only to describe structure and functions of new supervisory institutions, but also to express the Czech National Bank's attitude to the proposed architecture and to comment on disputed points. The final part of the thesis briefly describes the actual set-up of approval process for the proposals.

The bachelor thesis deals with a look to bank regulation in Czech republic. In the first chapter I tried to explain the meaning of capital adequacy. In the second chapter I described the meaning of bank liquidity and it's relation to commercial bank regulation. In the third chapter I explained how the commercial bank deal with informations. And the last chapter tried to make clear in the de Larosier report.
