The personality of pedagogue, scripter and writer Karel Štorkán

This thesis is to map the life and works of Karel Štorkán as a educationalist, scripwriter and writer, who was one of the leading personalities putting in the basis of College studies for journalist's specialization at the Charles University in the 60ies of the last century and his further development. I was mainly concentrated on his educational activity and his professional works - essay-books, reports, interwiev and court-essays and his contributions in magazines of the Union of Czechoslovak journalists - specifically in Novinář and Sešity novináře. In detail, to be dealt with selected fiction books (Nemravové ze septimy bé, Rodeo), movie themes (My ztracený holky, Milion, Matěji, proč tě holky nechtějí?). Not to be left out the series Boys ang guys that was written together with Jiří Bednář an was later on released as a book. The book and movie analysis is to be completed by reviews in newspapers and magazines as Rudé právo, Mladá fronta, Tvorba, Literární měsíčník…
The Language of Novels for Girls by Lenka Lanczová

The thesis is focused on linguistic analysis of selected novels for girls by Lenka Lanczová (Znamení Blíženců, Kam se vytrácí láska, Potížistka, Dvakrát dospělá). Its aim is to analyse all language levels of examined texts and, above all, to refer to symptomatic linguistic devices, which are used in them. Furthermore, the novels are compared one to each other to point out possible development of author's language. Finally, the focus is given to the differences and similarities with the earlier production of novels for girls. The base of explanations is represented by literary research of novels for girls, especially the findings from Dagmar Mocná and Svatava Urbanová, and also by existing linguistic analysis of their language (the publication Prostor pro jazyk a styl by Oldřich Uličný and Jan Horák).
Polariites of young adult fiction in Czech prose in between the wars

This thesis focuses on the variations within the genre of young adult fiction in the period between the two world wars. It explores the forms of this genre depending on the intention of the work and the relationship between the text and its model reader. The thesis is divided into two main chapters; the first is theoretical and is divided into two parts. The second chapter focuses on comparative analysis. The first literary-historical part deals with the life and literary life of a woman, starting at the second half of the nineteenth century and presents the genre of the romance novel with its sub-genres; the starting point is the work of Lenderová and Mocná. The second theoretical part contains the typology of popular and artistic literature and the categories included therein, especially the categories of author, narrator, reader and model reader. This part is based mainly on Eco's concept of literary work. The second chapter interprets and compares always two stories by Czech authors of the interwar and early wartime. Selected texts of the authors belonging to the canon of artistic literature (Benešová, Pujmanová, Majerová) is compared with the texts of the authors of popular literature (Hüttlová, Neubauer, Žďárská-Strejčková). Role of rags and other community events on life of czech woman in 19th century

The socio-historical and literary-historical context is delineated in the first part of the thesis. But the essence of the thesis is analysing of three novels and one book of advices written by four female writers of the second half of 19th centrury. The analysis is focused on construction of model female readers for which the books were written. The main theme is analysis of detail of ball or dance event in their influence on the life of teenage girls, the definition and description of how the marriage market works and its changing relationship with the woman's free choice of profession. Based on readings of other texts of the four female authors we followed the extent of projection of ideological orientations and attitudes of the writers into these their analyzed texts.
