Semiautomatic Collection of Large Database of Handwritten Letters
Štěpánek, Ivo ; Juránek, Roman (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
This thesis deals with creation of database of handwritten characters further usable for handwritten character recognition. The issue of systems for unconstrained handwritten text recognition and datasets usable for it is discussed. Practical part of the thesis aims at preprocessing of the input document and line and word segmentation followed by extraction of isolated characters. These phases can be done entirely automatically, though user input to correct output of automatic processing is supposed. Furthermore the practical part is devoted to annotation of obtained character and to generation of XML document containing annotation and position of single characters from the input texxt. The created system is finally evaluated with emphasis on GUI and automatic segmentation succes rate.
License Plate Recognition
Tilňak, Tomáš ; Juránek, Roman (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
This thesis talks about a license plate recognition problematics and my implementation of license plate recognition program. At first I introduce a format of license plates in Czech republic. Next chapter is about existing solutions for each phase of license plate recognition according to the selected scientific articles. The main part of this thesis is about design and implementation of license plate recognition program. I also introduce libraries I used in implementation. Necessary part in software development is testing, which has also its own chapter. In the final part there is a review of results and proposals for future changes.
Automatic acquisition of values from measurement devices without communication interface
Dohnálek, Martin ; Čala, Martin (referee) ; Kunz, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the matter of optical character recognition from displays of measurement devices without communication interface. This would allow carrying out automated experiments using cheaper or older gear, which is not endowed with means for direct connection to a computer. Input image necessary for the character recognition is acquired using a camera pointed at a display of the device. The recognition is afterwards performed on periodically captured image based on an already existing dataset for particular apparatus. The output of the algorithm is a file containing recognized values, units, and timestamps of the recognition. The tool for creating datasets was designed as well. The achieved speed of recognition (as fast as 34 ms per iteration) during practical testing confirmed the sufficient optimalization of OCR algorithm. On the other hand, the determined hit rate of recognition abiding specified conditions was nearly 100 %. Lastly, the resistance to misalignment of display and sensor plane was monitored. The OCR algorithm is resilient to horizontal tilt up to +/- 5° and vertical tilt up to +/- 20°.
On-Board License Plate Detection and Recognition
Tomovič, Martin ; Sochor, Jakub (referee) ; Špaňhel, Jakub (advisor)
This Bachelor's thesis aims to create an aplication for detection and recognition of license plates suitable for real-time processing. The work contains analysis of available methods. Part of the work is focused on present form of licence plates in Czech Republic. As a result of work, new data set was created and computer application was implemented. The application uses existing libraries designed for computer vision and machine learning with main purpose to detect and recognize licence plates from video. Detection is realized with help of cascade classifier, and recognition by Perceptron neural network. Final chapter subsequently contains evaluation of success rate of implemented solution.
CAPTCHA Recognition
Klika, Jan ; Samek, Jan (referee) ; Rozman, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis describes the design and implementation of an application for breaking the CAPTCHA. It also describes the history and evolution of CAPTCHA and the ways of its generating and possible techniques of its breaking. This thesis focuses on the new types of CAPTCHA, based on hard character segmentation. So the main target of this thesis is the design and implementation of the new segmentation method, allowing the recognition of modern CAPTCHAs, especially reCAPTCHA.
Automatic Acquisition Of Values From Measurement Devices Without Communication Interface
Dohnálek, Martin
This paper deals with optical character recognition (OCR) of measured values from displaysof measuring instruments without communication interface. Proposed algorithm functions asa bridging between a screen of the instrument and a measuring software. It enables the acquisitionof the displayed value from a snapped picture from the input camera stream, so that it is comprehensiblefor computers. The execution is, after necessary initialization done by the user, fully automated.Supported camera connection interfaces are USB and WiFi, meaning that either standardoffice webcam, or smartphone with third party app running is usable. The final algorithm recognizedboth 99 % valid values and its speed was exceeding the refresh rate of most common instruments(as fast as 34 ms per iteration). This means that it is not bottlenecking the measurement itself.
