Reasons of increasing cohabitation in the Czech Republic or why people don't get married nowadays

Bachelor thesis "Reasons of increasing cohabitation in the Czech Republic or why people don't get married nowadays" deals with circumstances that could have influenced increase of cohabitation in Czech republic after 1989 and is searching reasons of unmarried couples for favouring this type of relationship. It brings an overview of theories that explains changes in family behaviour - part of which is also expansion of cohabitation - in developed societies existing in second half of 20th century. These emphasize mainly economical and cultural reasons. Furthermore it defines cohabitation and its two types: premarital cohabitation and cohabitation as alternative of marriage. The work describes evolution of cohabitation in our area in context of changes of family behaviour after year 1989. Considering theories it focuses on value of marriage - which is still high in our society - and also on former and recent state policy that influence expediency of marriage and cohabitation. Despite the fact that cohabitation is not made more favourable than marriage, supporting of marriage decreased. It is also searching differences between both types of relationships in connection to law issues.
