Prices of water and sewage in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis deals with the problems related to the operation of water supply and sewerage systems in the Czech Republic. Due to the wide scope of the topic, the view is focused on the calculation of the water price for the customer. The bachelor thesis also describes the technical development of water management infrastructure, ways of operating water supply and sewerage systems, the development of water prices in individual regions and a description of the application for calculating water prices.

This thesis deals with the water price in relation to the costs of rebuilding of water infrastructure in use. Although the price of water has been very much discussed in the last few years, but mainly in terms of profits. This paper describes the method by which, when using data from property and operating records, it is calculated how much of the gained money should be deferred each year. This amount is for both the whole company and each municipality. As part of this work, I evaluated six water companies and compared the results to each other.

This bachelor thesis focuses on an evaluation of the usage of drinking, sewage and rainwater in Czech households. The first part consists of literary review. In addition to providing detailed information on drinking, sewage, and rainwater, this section also addresses ways of using sewage water and rainwater within the household. Water management in sixteen selected Czech households is examined in the practical part. The data used were obtained in the form of a questionnaire. The data were measured in the period between 1.11.2017 and 1.11.2018. The research shows that the average consumption of the drinking water in selected households is 88,2 l per person per day. Family houses show higher consumption of drinking water per person than the apartments. The water consumption is declining as the average age of household members is increasing. The practical part also consists of suggestions of measures which lead to savings.

An Evaluation of Water Supply Ownership in Europe

1 Abstract This thesis deals with the topic of effective ownership structures in the water supply industry in Europe. It gives background information on the types of ownership and the cooperation between public and private sector. Furthermore, it gives an overview of state regulation and the competetive nature of the water supply market and explains how the water is priced by the companies. The core of the thesis is the evaluation of performance and effectiveness of private and public entities in water supply. Past literature and research are discussed regarding the performance of each sector and the case of Italian water supply services is given leading to reasons for water privatization. This work further develops the effectiveness of public-private partnership with regards to water provision. Moreover the multiple regression analysis shows the dependence of water tariffs on privatization level, competition, the amount of the freshwater resources and volume of abstraction, and 'richness' of selected European regions. This gives a reasoning of water price setting and shows the influence of ownership on the level of the tariffs. Price elasticity of household water demand in Czech Republic

Během posledních desetiletí se v eské republice stále zvyšují ceny vody, což vede k následnému snižování její spotřeby. Tomuto tématu se věnuje velké množství studií, ale dle našich zjištění se žádná z nich nezabývá eskou republikou. Obecně lze říci, že hlavním cílem této práce je nalezení krátkodobé a dlouhodobé cenové elasticity poptávky po vodě v eské republice a následně v Kladně. Při zkoumání poptávky po vodě v Kladně vyšetřujeme cenovou elasticitu v závislosti na odlišném počtu člen· v domácnostech. V obou případech dojdeme k závěru, že poptávka je neelastická v krátkém i dlouhém časovém období. Dále zjistíme, že cenová elasticita roste s klesajícím počtem člen· domácností v obou časových obdobích. Naše výsledky jsou v souladu se závěry ostatních studií.

The subject of my diploma thesis, "The reasons for differences in prices of water (water and sewage) in South Bohemia on the examples of selected towns Vodňany and Prachatice" is to analyze the pricing of water and sewage, and their development in the period between 2006 to 2014 in the towns Vodňany and Prachatice and find the main reasons for the differences in these prices between these two towns.
