The archaeology at South Bohemian castles of the Lords of the Rose

The aim of the following thesis is to introduce the evolution of the medieval castle architecture in Europe, primarily in Bohemia. The main attention is focused on the South Bohemian district, the powerful noble stock Vítkovci and some of their residence castles. This thesis brings the basic overwiev of the family history and the construction development. The special emphasis is on an archaeological researches and their contribution to the observation of the construction development by the selected ancient monuments.

The beginning of family with half-moon in the coat of arms. Knights of Vřesovice in the late Middle Ages

The theme of this thesis is history of the knights (later lords) of Vřesovice in the late Middle Ages. The work deals mainly with political and economic role of the family members in the late medieval Bohemia, with special attention to the hussite captain Jakoubek of Vřesovice, who was mainly responisible for family rise. Furthermore, this work tries to answer the question, what happened to the family of Vřesovice since Jakoubek's death until the late Middle Ages, because during the 16th century, knights of Vřesovice belonged to the most powerful aristocratic families in Bohemia. Family members from the times of king George and Jagellonian rulers were not yet reflected by many historians. Fates of individual family members are assessed and placed into historical context. The work deals with property relations of knights of Vřesovice and manifestations of their aristocratic representation. As a whole, the work probes into political, economic, cultural and social life in late medieval northwest Bohemia. The survey of fish stock composition of selected pilot sites

The screening survey of fish stock composition was performed at the pilot sites of future monitoring, namely in the facilities of the Kroměříž Castle (reservoirs and ponds in the garden and park), Lednice Castle (park pond), Ploskovice Castle (park pond), Červené Poříčí (park pond) and Němčice reservoir (flood protection).

Renewal and management of the castle Olešná

This master thesis is focused on the renewal of the castle Olešná and its further comercial and cultural utilisation. In 2013 the castle was bought by its current owners who plan its complete renewal. The castle is currently in bad condition. First part of the thesis concentrates on theory. It offres definition of cultural tourism, part of which is the visit of castles. Further on, the cultural heritage of the Czech Republic and its protection is defined. Second part of the thesis is focused on assessing the current state of the monument and its importance for the tourism in Rakovnicko region. The main object is to propose specific suggestions for future management of the castle.
