Selected monuments of the Late Gothic sacral architecture in South Moravia in arthistorical context
MALÍKOVÁ, Tereza
The diploma thesis entitled Selected Monuments of Late Gothic Sacred Architecture of South Moravia in Art Historical Context is based on the author's bachelor thesis. It deals with the history, architecture and context of the late Ghotic pilgrime church of St. Wolfgang in Hnanice near Znojmo. The thesis tries to place the Hnanice church in the context of other stylistically similar church buildings in South Moravia and Lower Austria. It gives three examples of possible analogies from the Moravian Danube and another three examples from the Austrian Danube. The bulidings are described and further compared. The thesis also tries to answer the question of where influences may have flowed and what all may have influenced on the emergence and rising of sacral architecture of the late Gothic period.

The aim of the thesis is a research of the oldest sacral architecture on the example of one region - West Bohemia. While historical research has suggested that the oldest churches were built at administrative castles and formed the basis of a great-parish system, archaeological sources show a different image. Already during the 11th century, we have documented a number of churches in the landscape. Their relationship to older burial grounds is being explored. Compared to the supposed discontinuity between older row burial sites and church cemeteries, it appears that in many cases there was a direct spatial connection. The churches were founded in places of older settlement, as well as in places of older cemeteries. Archaeological research has documented wooden buildings and stone architecture too. In several cases, spatial and functional links to residences have been explored. In many cases, a greater age of churches was proved. Some churches were preceded by an older sacral building. The position of some churches on important roads and borders indicates their symbolic role. The results of archaeological research formulated to questions who were the builders of these churches and what was their role in medieval society. Thus, the view of the early Christianization of the early medieval population...
Baroque Theatricality
Kotrbová, Karolína ; LJUBKOVÁ, Marta (advisor) ; SMOLÍK, Robert (referee)
In my thesis I deal with the theatricality of the Baroque style. I consider theatricality a crucial feature of this period, of its art and, in a way, also of its thinking and approach to the world. In my work, I will try to prove this oppinion. On the example of three ecclesiastical buildings on the territory of Bohemia and Moravia, I want to prove my claims and explain my statement. I deliberately chose three very different structures - St. Michael church in Brno, Svatá Hora in Příbram and the pilgrimage church Panny Marie Dobré rady at Nové Hrady. The more diverse the places are, the wider possibilities I have for proving my claims.

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is mapping the area of micro region Dolnobřežansko by field research, documentation minor church architecture in this area and evaluation of their condition. Based on the evaluated condition we can determine if the owners manage them as they should. This architecture includes crosses, chapels, sculptures of saints, steeples, wayside shrines and other monuments. This bachelor thesis is divided into two parts - a theoretical and a practical part. In the beginning you can find typology of the architecture, overview of the legislation related to care for small monuments and options to get funds for the reconstruction of these monuments. The practical part includes the main research which defines the area of research and describes all religious monuments identified. The most important aspect of this this research was meeting the people who care about the monuments and also the communication with local residents and representatives.
